Especially as we travel through the difficulty of the pandemic, more and more people are struggling with day to day activities. Not to mention the underlying mental health issues amplified by the lack of work. My dream is to be a psychiatrist, because I believe that helping people is a great way to leave a lasting impression on the world. It may not be monumental, like finding the cure for a disease or saving someone from danger, but if I could make someone's day just a little bit brighter, or help them find a reason to get up in the morning, that would be enough.
Psychiatrists are able to diagnose mental illnesses, and prescribe medicine to help people when the issues are based on chemical imbalances in their brains. Being able to locate the root of the problem is the first step to solving it, and a psychiatrist is a vital piece in doing so. Working to help people with these problems has always been a dream for me, especially when those around me are being affected by it too. To have the ability to help those people feel better would mean so much, especially because they don't deserve to feel that way.
This dream will take a lot of work to achieve. But if I was able to help people like that, it would mean quite a lot. A psychiatrist might not be an opulent job, or one without loads of stress and work. But if I could overcome all of that, I think I'd be able to achieve my own happiness in helping others.
