Malia's POV
There was 15 minutes left in the game and I only had 5 points. On the other hand Derek had 27. I got shot several times. In the matter of fact I've been shot more times than I've shot others. Derek hasn't got shot yet. Not even once! I was so frustrated. This is the worst "date" I've ever been on! We haven't even spoken. Except when Derek told me to get out of his way so that he can shoot the opponent.
"Ugh this 'war zone' is massive! Where in the name of hell is Derek?" I said out loud hopelessly. When I turned the corner I was startled. I've been shot! I had no idea who it was. When I looked up to see who the figure was. I was so angry right now, "Fuck Derek what's wrong with you? It's me!" I yelled at him. He laughed a little and said as if it were cool, "Oh woops I thought you were one of the opponents!"
"You think this is funny? I've been shot so many times and I only have 5 points!" I started to walk away when I heard Derek whisper, "It actually wasn't an accident." I felt him smirking. I turned around so furiously. I walked towards him and with out thinking I pulled the trigger. Twice. I smiled and laughed I was satisfied by why I did. He gasped for air, faking a dramatic death. "I've been shot. How? How can you do this to me Malia?" he said "breathlessly" while falling to the ground. I rolled my eyes and I couldn't help but laugh. He was on the floor with his eyes closed. The moment he heard me laughing he automatically opened his eyes. "Oh you think this is funny? I'm sitting here dying and you're laughing!" he said with a smirk and eyebrow raised. "Ya I actually do think this is funny. I'm satisfied with what I've done," and I showed my muscles. "How strong are you for this?" And he flexed his arms showing his muscles. God I wanted to be held in his arms. I wanted to grab his muscles.Next thing I knew I was thrown over Derek's shoulder and he was running with me over his shoulder. Its like he read my mind. "Derek put me down!!" I yelled at him while hitting his strong muscled back. "Why? This isn't the first time I've held you upside down," he said while laughing. I remembered the first day I met him. I remembered how he held me from my legs and my head was inches away from the ground. He went on, "And besides I like this view." I knew exactly what he was talking about. "Perv," I said while rolling my eyes. He started to chuckle and I knew he winked. Derek put me down and we were eye to eye. My eyes were locked into his. They were a soft black. Yet they were calm and sparkling. Which was a surprise because the only thing that was sparkling were his teeth because of the glow in the dark lights. But his eyes shined so much that I could see them in the darkness. That moment was pretty close to perfect. His head was leaning to the side and he was coming closer and closer. The moment I pulled away the neon lights turned off signalling that the game had finished. Derek sighed unsatisfied. I felt a little sad too but I had too. I didn't have any feelings for him. I'm not going to end up with the town's bad boy. Plus I promised my mom I would stay away from him and tonight I bend the rule a little bit.
We left the war zone and placed the guns in their holder. I pulled out my phone and saw that it was 9:40.
Derek and I walked to his car. I was still in shock of how beautiful his Audi is. We drove silently. Only once in a while we would say things to each other. But honestly nothing special we just talked about the weather and what we should do for our project. Awkward.
I thought he was going to drop me off at my house but instead he parked in front of a creamery (ice cream shop). My favourite one in this town in the matter of fact. My mom and I have been here a couple of times through out the summer.
"What are we doing here?" I asked with a small smile. He replied like it was the most obvious thing in the world, "Getting ice cream, duh!"
"Well I thought you were taking me home."
"Well you thought wrong, Butterfly." Just the sound of the nickname 'butterfly' gives me a warm feeling. No, it sends me hot chills.
