The morning sun filtering in from her thin, white curtains awoke Zeroro. She excitedly leaped out of bed and gathered some items up in her backpack.
“Mama, can I go to a friend’s house after school?”
Zeroro’s mother looked surprisedly at her. “You’ve made a friend? Oh, that’s so great to hear!” She pulled her into a tight hug.
“Ehe…” she giggled nervously before pulling away.
“As long as you’re back in time to eat dinner, I am fine with it. You have my number if you need me!”
“Okay, thank you, Mama!” She smiled before running out the door.
Zeroro hummed happily as she stared out the window of the bus. She tried her best to ignore the two rowdy Keronian boys kicking around in their seats next to her as she daydreamed. Maybe Giroro would let her come inside…or even see her room! If she was lucky, that was.
She hopped off the school bus jovially and began down the sidewalk. Class was going to be quite boring today since Giroro was ditching, but if she made it through she knew she would get to see her for a while.
As the release bell rang, Zeroro bolted out the door and ran straight for the dumpsters, where Giroro was hiding.
"Girorooo!"
Giroro looked up happy at her and let out a small laugh. "Ya ready to go? I brought my flying board!"
"Ah, me too! You lead the way, if that's okay with you...!"
The two hopped on and began to fly towards Giroro's house. They shortly hopped off as it wasn't too far from the school.
“Well, we’re here. I know it aint all that, but its what we can afford. Come on in.”
Zeroro stared at Giroro in amusement. “Is it really okay for me to come in…?”
“‘Course, why wouldn’t it?” she laughed. “We are friends, after all.”
“Ah, yeah!”
She smiled wide as she carefully stepped into the house. It seemed awfully shabby compared to hers, but she was well aware her house was a mansion to most. The walls sunk in ever so slightly and the wooden floors were quite creaky. It seemed as if this house had been built as a makeshift fort initially.
“Ey, Garuru! I brought the girl I was talkin’ ‘bout!”
A tall shadow peeked out from behind a door near the entrance. Out stepped a tall figure, with weapons at his side. Zeroro grabbed tightly onto Giroro’s arm as they came into her view.
“So you weren’t lyin’, eh? You actually got a girl…”
“S-shut up!”
She began to lessen her grip on Giroro as she carefully watched who she assumed was Garuru. He didn’t seem to want to hurt her- in fact, he said Giroro had ‘got her’. Do I belong to Giroro now…? Is that what friends do? she thought.
