Epilogue

(Y/N) POV:

"And that is how I managed to land the most popular guy in the entire college." Taiyou stated in an impersonation of me.

I placed a hand on his shoulder. "Um my love... One, you're talking to a puppy in a pet shop. Two, please don't pretend to be me ever again. Three, that was actually pretty spot on and accurate story telling good job."

"Don't you dare call Princess Fluffy Boots just a puppy in a pet shop. She needs to know how mommy and daddy met!"

I leaned over the cage the puppies were kept in. "So I'm guessing this is the one?"

While her brothers and sisters were off playing, a single puppy was sitting by the cage wall. She was listening to Taiyou's story patiently and without a word- or rather a bark.

"Yes, this one. Pleaseeee I want this one!" Taiyou pulled on my sleeve and whined.

"Jeez you're still such a kid."

"Ah yes but you love me."

I chuckled. "That I do."

Taiyou ran off to get a worker to open the cage for us to take our new puppy. Princess Fluffy Boots walked in a circle after her tail before coming to a full stop in front of me. She stuck her paw through the cage and placed her paw on my hand.

"Welcome to the family cutie."

I felt a tap at my shoulder and stepped back so the worker could open the cage. She handed me the puppy and closed the cage before the others could escape. We quickly paid for a few extra toys and a small doggie bed.

"Be careful with that one, she's a rowdy one the second her paws hit the floor." The worker warned us.

"Don't worry, we can handle it." I assured her.

We walked back to the car, puppy in hand, and Taiyou opened the door for me. The same car he had back in college. Sometimes I wonder how it still functions but I've grown to love it so I don't complain.

I sat in the front seat with the puppy in my hands. The second the door closed and she was placed on my lap, she jumped up to my face and started licking whatever she could. I laughed as Taiyou got into the driver's seat and picked up Princess Fluffy Boots.

Taiyou held up Princess Fluffy Boots in front of him. "Hey hey hey hey, that's my wife's face you're licking there. You're kissing my territory missy, watch it-"

Of course she didn't listen to a word as she licked Taiyou without a second thought. She pounced on him and pawed at his shirt in an attempt to keep herself up. To no avail, she kept slipping and lost her grip.

Taiyou laughed as he spoke, "H-hey! Princess Fluffy Boots! Watch it!"

I lifted Princess Fluffy Boots from Taiyou and he responded in a pout. "Drive home and then you can play with her while I set up her area in our room."

Taiyou pouted even harder but still complied. Princess Fluffy Boots was tired out and started to take a nap on my lap while we headed home. The ride ahead was long though as we had to go to a far out shop for Taiyou to find the right puppy.

When we got home Taiyou immediately took Princess Fluffy Boots from my lap and ran into the house. I chuckled as I got the supplies out of the car and and went inside. Taiyou was already laying on the floor with Princess Fluffy Boots running around.

"You know you're going to have go train her to not pee in the house, right?" I looked over at Taiyou having too much fun to hear me. "Goddamn you"

I tossed Taiyou a little toy and to play with the puppy and went to go organize and make space for our new family member.

When I was done I went back to where Taiyou and Princess Fluffy Boots were and they were still playing fetch. I walked over and sat next to Taiyou who was laying on the floor. I placed my head on his back and ran my hands through his hair.

"What's up?" Taiyou flipped over so his back was on the floor now.

"Nothing, just a little tired." I replied.

"Then go to sleep."

"It's only eight though."

"Tell you what, if you play with Princess Fluffy Boots until she gets tired, I'll head to sleep too." Taiyou placed his pinky out in an offer of a promise.

"How is this a deal exactly?"

"Because you get the warmth and comfort of your beautiful husband by your side tonight." Taiyou held his pinky out closer to me.

"But I always-"

Taiyou got impatient and started shaking his hand for me to promise. I rolled my eyes and smiled before linking my pinkie with his and promising.

We played for hours and suddenly , Princess Fluffy Boots was tired. I thought to myself "finally" and picked her up. I carried her to our room and placed her on her bed with a small blanket to cover her.

I changed into pajamas and got into bed, Taiyou quickly following suit. Since he's taller, he wrapped his arms around me from behind and shut off the lamp. A small nightlight shone in the corner since Taiyou couldn't sleep without it.

"She's so cute." Taiyou whispered.

"And very hyper, just like you." I poked his cheek.

"Mmm I'm going to have to start hiding my paints and art equipment now."

"Or you could just lock the door to your art room."

Taiyou stared at me like I just said something ridiculous. "My princess should have access to wherever her four paws take her in this house."

"I thought I was your princess?" I faked a pout.

"You're my queen and you know it."

"Yeah yeah, I know. It's nice to have a new member in the house even if it's a puppy."

"How about we have another new member? Maybe a human baby this time?" Taiyou teased.

"One step at a time, maybe after we already train and accommodate Princess Fluffy Boots."

Taiyou smirked "Guess I better train her quick."

"Whatever sunshine kid. Good night."

"Good night wifey. I love you." Taiyou placed a quick kiss on the top of my head.

"I love you too."

I guess returning that pen was the best decision I ever made because it all led up to here and this is exactly where I want to be.
