"Hey, kiddo," Luke said. "Hey," I said as I walked to his side. I grabbed his right hand and held it. "Now, how about that permission slip that you were talking about?" he asked me. "What type of trip are you going on?" Luke asked making me smile. That is a Luke thing to do. Make it so it doesn't seem that something is wrong. Which is hard since he is in a hospital bed.

"Uh, the whole science class was invited to go to the Avengers tower next Tuesday," I said as I grabbed the permission slip. "Really? Well, aren't you lucky," he said with a smile on his face. He grabbed the slip from me and grabbed a pen from Rachel. He signed it right away. "I bet you are happy about that," Luke said as he handed me the slip.

"Yeah, it's a once in a lifetime chance. Oh, I also got a letter from the principal." I said as I put the slip away. "Really, who sent you the letter?" Luke asked. I grabbed the letter. "A college that has been keeping an eye on me since junior year. They want me and maybe someone else to go and see the college. I might get in sooner than highschool ends." I said.

"What college?" he asked. "MIT," I said. "That is amazing, Maxine. I'm so proud of you and I'm sure Morgan is proud of you too," he said as he placed a kiss on my forehead. "I was thinking, maybe you can go with me," I said. "When do they want you to go?" Luke asked. "Two weeks from Friday," I answered with a smile on my face.

"I would love to kiddo, but I don't think I will be able to," Luke said. "Why? Did you find a job?" I asked. "Max, doctors found a brain tumor," Luke said making me look at him with sad eyes. "What," I said. "It's stage two brain cancer, but there is still hope. I just can't leave the hospital." Luke said.

"Max, we talked about it and the four of us think that you are old enough to care for yourself," Sharon said, making me look at everyone in the room. "And if you need any help, you can call me or Sharon," Karen said. "You also have me." Rachel said. "You also have your mates that live across the street and those other mates that you have met. Yes, I know about them too." Luke said.

"Why did you say you are okay when you have a tumor?" I asked as a tear escaped my eye. "Oh, Max. That's because I know that you will be fine and I trust the doctors that are here. I mean, even one of them is my daughter's mate. One that helped her when she was shot." Luke said.

There was a knock on the door that made everyone look over there. "Sorry, but visiting hours are done." the nurse said. I looked back at Luke. "Get into MIT for me and Morgan," he said. I nodded and started to walk to the door. "And Max," Luke said making me look back at him. "Yeah," I said.

"Take care of yourself and promise me that you will visit me," he said. "I promise," I said as another tear fell from my face. I walked out of the room with Sharon and Karen. "Come on, Max. We'll drive you home and if you even need anything, just call us." Karen said. I nodded and walked to their car. I put my bag on the seat next to me as I closed the door. Just as it started to rain.

Sharon started the car and drove off after looking at me. I just kept my eyes out of the window. I wiped my tears before I put my head on the window. The cold glass making me wide awake. The glass calming me down even more. After a little while, I put my elbow by the window and I held my chin with my hand.

"Are you sure you are going to be okay?" Sharon asked, making me look over at her

"Are you sure you are going to be okay?" Sharon asked, making me look over at her. "I think it will be okay. I just have to keep thinking happy thoughts. I just need to push through." I said. "Alright," Karen said as we pulled into the driveway.

I unbuckled my seatbelt. "Thanks for the ride," I said as I grabbed my backpack. "No problem," Sharon said. I gave a sad smile before I opened the door. I closed the door before I walked to the house door.

I opened it and walked into the house. I closed the door before I walked up to my room. I put my backpack down on the ground by my dresser before I took the permission slip and the letter on the top of the dresser.

"Max." A voice said making me jump. I turned around and looked over at where the voice was, only to see Roselisle standing there. "Jesus, you scared me," I said. "Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." She said. I took another breath before saying "It's fine, just try not to sneak up on me next time." I said as I took out Liv's number and put it on the dresser by the permission slip and letter.

"So, are you going to tell me the good news that you got today?" she asked. "Well, I might get into a college early." I said. "That's amazing, Max. What college?" She asked me. I rubbed the back of my neck as I said "MIT." Under my breath, knowing that she can still hear what I am saying. "Max, that is amazing. I'm so glad for you." Roselise said as she walked over to me. She picked me up and hugged me.

I laughed as she spun me around in a circle. She put me back down. "I'm so proud of you Max." She said with a big smile on her face. I smiled at her. "I'm glad that you are happy for me." I said. "Of course I am." She said. I looked down then back at her. The next thing I know is her lips crashed into mine. As a reaction, I kissed her back. I slowly got closer and closer to Roselisle to the point that our bodies are pressed up against each other.
