As we head downstairs into the kitchen, I catch myself thinking about how it feels like no time has passed since we last saw each other. I feel comfortable around him and close, as if we'd grown up together. It's a shame we didn't, he lives on the other side of the world.

Mum and Dad begin to tell us about the plans they've made to go site seeing in Sydney with Niall, there are three bags on the counter filled with food and water for the outing.
We pile into the car and set off for the 2 hour journey

In the car mum decided to put on Niall's music (solo career)
"Nea's friends have all been obsessed with you since 2010" dad says with a chuckle.
"Actually they have been obsessed with Harry Styles and before now I didn't really have any relation to Niall I could only say I met him once when we were 5"
Niall let out a deep chuckle as the car fell silent letting the music wash over us.

[after looking at the sites, eating and going for a tour of the opera house]

We pulled up to a side street near the bridge and mum and dad tell us that they booked the Harbor Bridge Climb tour for Niall and I. The feeling of terror settled in as I got my harness and helmet on. Niall playfully nudges me as the instructor teathers us to each other and our group for the climb. After sleepily watching a boring safety rundown we begin at the bottom of the bridge. Niall yawns whilst scratching the side of his head inquisitively, I can tell he is nervous now, he starts hyping himself up by jumping from side to side, making me laugh as I join him, before we start up the bridge.

Once we get to the top of the climb Niall makes the genius choice to look down
"Shit. We're high" he lets out with a quiver in his voice. His big grey eyes start to focus on the drop and fixate on the road below with cars rushing past. I peer down to try and calm his nerves, I feel my footing start to weaken, the overwhelming sense of nausea sets in as I feel a waver in my consciousness. I can feel the breeze pushing me lefts and right. I stumble as Niall's reflexes kick in. He grabs at my arm and waist to pull me back in towards his chest. His hands radiating on me, heart racing, pounding out of his chest as I let out a shivered breath. I lock eyes with him the grey colour, warmer than anything I've ever witnessed, his breath quickens as he leans in closer
"Niall I-"
He cuts me off by crashing into my lips, everything and everyone around us fades away as I give into him, kissing him back. He breaks away to ask "better, now?" I give a soft smile as we head back down the bridge, him in tow behind, carefully watching I don't fall again.

We get back to the car laughing and joking, then we see my parents, smiling back.
"So,, how was it"
Niall and I look at each other, falling silent
"Yeah, it was great" we say in unison trying not to reveal what had happened after my fall.

We pile back into the car to get dinner. "Nando's!" Niall states affectionately as we pass by, it's the first thing either of us have said in a while. We go in and order while my parents find a parking spot. We get 'The Great Pretender' and Niall orders the same with a side of the 'extra bloody hot sauce', which he could not handle!
My parents walk-in as the food arrives and the mood is almost instantly killed, I guess we're still feeling awkward from earlier...

When we arrive home we go get showered, I try to wash off the shame of the silent meal. We turn the lights out and lay in bed trying to get some sleep. "Nea?" Niall whispers to me "about earlier..."
"Please Niall, don't make a big deal"
I plead not wanting to make it weird. We both agree to act like the kiss never happened. Secretly upset, I tried not to show him my bruised ego as I turned away and drifted off to sleep. Colder than before, empty.
