When Everyone Finds Out
_________________________Days rolled around and now it was Monday again. You were sitting at your kitchen island eating a quick breakfast thinking about the past few days.
You were happy to spend your weekend with your new boyfriend -it definitely made those days easier to get through- but now it was time to stress.
Tōru and yourself had just started dating, and it didn't take a genius to know that there would be a lot of jealous girls once they found out. The possibilities of what they might try and do to you were endless. Would they ignore you and try to get with Tōru anyways? Would they harass you until you had enough and broke up with him (which you would never dream of doing), or will they just ignore you and learn to mind their own business?
...yeah that last one probably isn't going to happen...
But the biggest thing on your mind right now was Sakurai.
Although she was your friend, you knew she had a huge crush on the chocolate haired setter and would probably take this news the hardest. What were you going to do? Maybe you could—
Knock Knock
Your thoughts were interrupted by a knock on the door.
You got up from your seat to see -none other than- your boyfriend standing at your front door smiling at you.
"You ready to go, baby?" He smiled, leaning over to give you a small kiss on the cheek.
"Tōru, you don't have to drive me to school everyday, I know it's really out of the way"
You grabbed your bag and keys (and pet your dog) before turning back and locking the door behind you. You really didn't expect Tōru to drive you everywhere like your personal servant just because you were dating now. It's not that you weren't grateful, you really were, but it seemed like a hassle from your perspective.
"Nonsense baby, I want to do this for you. I know that you aren't comfortable with driving yourself, and your dad has to get to his own school early, so it makes the most sense," he stated, opening your car door for you like a gentleman. "Besides, I feel lucky to get to see your beautiful face first thing. It brightens up my day~"
As he shut the door and made his way around to the drivers side, you felt your cheeks and ear start to turn red. He really was the sweetest guy but boy did he love saying embarrassing things.
...
The whole ride to school you were pretty quiet - you could thank the anxiety of seeing all the girls faces when they found out you of all people were going out with the schools number one heartthrob for that. Seriously, you had no idea what to do.
That was when you felt your boyfriend's hand rest on your thigh.
"What's the matter? You seem super stressed out"
"Oh it's nothing really, I'm just nervous about how your fans are going to react...I don't think they'll be pleased to see that Aoba Johsai's most eligible bachelor is now 'off the market' if you know what I mean"
All the setter did was laugh at your response. Now, hearing yourself say it out loud, it sounded ridiculous. By default you started to giggle as well.
"Why are you worrying what other people think? But then again, I know all the boys will be jealous that I scooped up the prettiest, kindest, funniest girl in the whole school, so I get what you're saying" He joked -even though you knew he meant every word of what he said.
'Tōrus right. Why was I even worrying about other people's opinions? It's not like they'll change our feelings for each other' You thought as the setter pulled into the student parking lot.
You both stepped out of the car and Tōru was immediately hounded by the girls who had been waiting for him. They circled him like vultures to the point he could barely close his drivers side door. As you saw all the girls trying to either compliment him, ask him to meet them after class, or invite him to have lunch, A spiked hair boy made his way through the crowd. You recognized him as the Volleyball team's ace player- Iwazumi (aka Iwa-chan from the team setter).
"Pack it up ladies he's not interested so leave him alone" He shouted, receiving boo's and irritated looks for his bluntness. He finally reached his teammate and started pulling him by his uniform collar.
"IWAAAA-CHHAAANNN~ You're so mean to me! At least let me say goodbye to (Y/n)!"
The dark haired boy gave his friend an angry look and a huff while he continued to pull him towards the gym entrance.
Seeing as there was no escape, Tōru gave you a smile and wave before blowing you a kiss and turning to walk away with his friend. What he didn't see was the death glares his fan girls had shot at you after the whole encounter.
"Who the hell does she like she is?"
"Did Oikawa really drive her to school?"
"I didn't want to believe that the new girl was a s*** but I guess its true"
These were the series of comments you heard as you walked out of the parking lot and toward, and through the hallways before you got into your classroom. You hated this kind of attention- I mean who didn't? To know that everyone was whispering about you and the possibility that you were Oikawa Tōru's girlfriend was not your idea of a good Monday.
As you sat down in your seat and leaned over to get your books out, two hands slammed onto your desk. You looked up to see who had wanted to get your attention and it was none other than Sakurai staring down at you with an unreadable expression.
"Hey (Y/n), I heard some rumours and wanted to come ask you about them, mind if we go up to the roof quickly?"
"U-um sure...let's go" You weakly smiled, though on the inside you were freaking out.
You both exited the classroom, you being slightly behind your -so called- friend, as you climbed up the set of stairs leading to the top of the school. To say you were nervous was an understatement. You two wouldfor sure be the only students up there so this was for sure the best time for her to murder you.
Finally, you made it to the top and she turned around to face you with a smile on her face. "So, I heard that Tōru drove you to school today, and apparently needed to be carried away by Iwazumi because you two were clinging together" She stated bluntly.
"No that wasn't exactly--" You didn't get a chance to finish your sentence before she wrapped you in a hug.
"Thank goodness! I was worried that you guys got together, I mean that would be awful! You know that I like him so when I heard that dumb rumour I felt super betrayed...I mean we're friends and you'd never do that to your friend right?"
"Sakurai I--"
"Don't worry I know you wouldn't, you're too kind to do something like that. Anyways that's the bell so I think we should get back to class. We don't want to be late for our science lab today"
Before you could get a single word in, Sakurai was already through the door and heading down the stairs. You were frozen in place, your mind going a million miles a second. The feelings of guilt and fear started settling in was enough to have you suddenly sprinting down the stairs to the nearest bathroom to throw up.
'What have I gotten myself into...'
