Blowing the candles Emily did a small clapping session while singing Happy Birthday for her mother's birthday. She smiled through her teary eyes before placing the cake beside her mother's grave.

"Mom. Look your daughter has grown up so much. I am sorry I couldn't plan more for your birthday." She mumbled while placing a flower bouquet on the grave.

Finally wiping her tears and smiling sadly glancing at the grave for the last time, she started walking towards her apartment. Sitting on the bench near the beautiful pond she stared at it blankly.

Her eyes were looking at the family with a blank gaze but deep sorrows were visible in her gaze. How couldn't she feel sad and empty when she has nothing. Even though she has William and orphanage but can she call them as hers. No, she can't.

She just wanted a complete family. A happy home of her where she could smile without any worries. But like people say not everyone has a happy life.

She had learnt from her mother to never hate someone no matter how bad they are. But the truth is we can't control this feeling. The hate and loathe she feels for her sperm donor she just can't help.

He ruined everything. He ruined her life from the day she wasn't even born. He made her doubt everyone's sincerity. She can't help but to not trust anyone no matter how nice and sincere that person is.

It took her a long time to even trust William. That's why she just couldn't find herself to like someone or even trust them.

Either they want to befriend her or wanted to have a relation with her but she just couldn't bring herself to trust any one of them. Her thoughts got interrupted by a familiar voice.

"You're not on work today." She turned her head and at first frowned at the man who was looking at his usual smirk then it hit her.

"Oh, Mr Stevens." Gabriel smiled at her before sighing in disappointment.

"Gabriel will be fine Emily." She looked at him with a questionable frown. How does he know her name which Gabriel understood instantly.

"Your badge. That day I read your name from your badge Emily Foster." She nodded with her poker face before again turning her gaze to the pond.

"Can I help you with something Mr Stevens?" She said making him sigh. She is indeed stubborn. Isn't she.

"Nothing just wanna know about you more." This got her attention so another man got an interest in her. She only sighed in annoyance, she can't even spend a small moment in peace.

"I am sorry Mr Stevens but I am a boring person I don't think you would like to interact with me. It will only waste your time." Saying that she stood up from the bench and started walking away.

"But I have a deep interest in boring things." She stopped in her tracks hearing his words. He was kinda flirting with her but her twisted mind took it in another way.

"I am not a thing Mr Stevens." Saying that she walked away while he only sighed. He wanted to tell her that he didn't mean it in that way but she already had left.

Emily got ready for the university and took a bus to reach the university faster. Today she took a leave from her work as she wanted to spend a little time with her mother.

Reaching the university she opened her locker but then was left stunned when she heard some noise. It was weird because it never happened before but then she again sighed thinking that it might be again Evan and his friends. They must have done something again.
