⚠️ Slight trigger warning ⚠️
She was stood in that room again and it was dark. So... very... dark.
Soomin couldn't see him but she knew he was there, circling her as a hawk does to its prey. He was always there.
She could feel his breath on the back of her neck and, despite how badly as she wanted to, she couldn't move her body.
Escaping was bad and she knew from experience what running away from him meant. Punishment.
A hand shot out from the darkness and flew into her stomach. A few seconds later, it happened again. And then again. Soomin doubled over from pain but kept as silent as possible. Making a noise always ended badly.
She felt the man circle her once and stop before her. Her breath came out in shudders.
He grabbed the back of her neck with one hand and yanked it down as he brought his knee up so it connected painfully with Soomin's face. Her head jolted backwards and blood started dripping slowly from her nose.
She knew what was next. Next, was the thing that she hated the most. His hands would come to her neck and latch around her throat, squeezing until she was on the verge of unconsciousness. Only once her eyes began to roll back into her head would he remove his hands, letting her believe it was over, but once she had almost caught her breath, he would do it all over again.
This time, when he took his hands away, he didn't leave her alone to recover. No. Instead, he lifted his right hand and brought it straight down into the side of her head.
~***~
Soomin flinched awake, breaking free of the hold that the sleeping Jungkook and Taehyung had on her. Her breath caught in her throat and she let out a loud sob, clutching at her chest desperately.
Her lungs weren't working.
Why weren't they working?!
It was like her whole body had forgotten how to function. Her heart was beating ten times faster than it should've been, her lungs didn't want to take in the air that she was so desperately trying to get into her body, and her body was shaking uncontrollably.
She was hyperventilating, her hands flying from her chest to her neck and then her face.
The force with which Soomin had flung herself up, had awoken Taehyung and Jungkook too. They were by her side in milliseconds, asking her what was wrong, but Soomin couldn't hear them and just kept mumbling "so dark, so dark".
Jungkook jumped out of bed and switched on the bedroom lights, hoping it would help calm her. Soomin relaxed slightly now that she could see where she was and that she was safe, but her body was still shaking like a leaf and her breathing was completely erratic.
The boys shared a worried look.
"Min Min," Tae said cautiously. "Are you okay?"
Soomin shook her head and let out another sob.
Jungkook climbed back onto the girl's bed, sitting so that he and Tae were either side of her. He slowly reached out to Soomin and rubbed her arm comfortingly.
"It's okay, Min Min." He said in a hushed tone. "We're both here. You're safe."
Tae gently took Soomin's chin in his hand and turned her head towards him. "Look at me, Min Min."
Her eyes found him and he saw how terrified she was.
"Breathe with me, Min Min. One in, one out. One in, one out." He breathed along with her until her chest started rising and falling at a normal rate.
