Elaine,
I wouldn't have expected you to write again after three unanswered letters. You must truly be desperate to consider my help, let alone my husband's.

To answer your questions: I am fine, and currently expecting my first child. Florian does indeed work for the Ministry, he was recently transferred to the Department of Magical Accidents and Catastrophes. I doubt there is much he could do; I will, however, communicate your queries to him and allow him to respond.

Lastly, I've heard of poor Amaranth. I was never close to her, but would not wish her fate upon anyone. I do believe there was more to her story than was let on by the press. Not that you would know, I'm sure returning from your travels kept you too busy to dig any further.

As I said, I will let Florian write to you himself.

I've attached to this letter copies of the few archives I am at liberty to share with you concerning accidents involving hippogriffs. I hope they will be useful in your quest to aid your friend.

On an unrelated note, Lyra speaks fondly of her memories of your friendship, despite her seeming displeasure after recent events. The loss of a friend is always hardest— but if you are willing to mend your friendship, please give her time. I am sure she will come around.

In hopes that this letter finds you well,

Sincerely,

Florian Macmillan

I briefly glanced over the few articles Florian had sent along, before folding them back and slipping them inside one of my runic dictionaries, with a mental note to pass them along to Hermione once I saw her. Candles flickered on my nightstand, and the wooden clock on the wall opposite my bed read 11 o'clock. I decided to slip into my silk chemise as I began to get ready for bed.

The soft tapping at my door surprised me, and I hurriedly threw my dressing gown on before opening it. Weary honey eyes peeked down at me, the edges wrinkled in a smile,
