If you had told me I'd be sitting with what's consider "the popular" kids at their table when I get to high school, I'd laugh in your face and think it's stupid.

But, here I am.

Hi, I'm Olivia Summers. I'm a junior at Silver Lakes High School. My best friend is Samantha Price. But we call her Sam. She's dating Peter Thompson, whose best friend is Austin Post. They're in a band together, The Fallouts. And honestly? They're really good. Austin, Peter, and the rest of their bandmates, Steven and Tyler, are popular. They're all seniors.

In all honesty I would much rather be sitting at some other table, but Sam wants me to sit with her, her boyfriend, and their friends. So I really have no choice. I looked over at Sam as she began talking.

"So," she claps her hands. "Mom and dad will be out of town this weekend, so I'm throwing a party!" She shrugged. "You all are coming, no questions. And you're all responsible for something. Nothing big, just like snacks, drinks, making a playlist. Easy stuff. But y'all can pick what you wanna do."

I sat and listened while everyone was picking what they wanted to do. I waited to be last.

"All right, Liv, what do you pick. Playlist or game supplies."

"I'll make the playlist."

Sam sighed dramatically. "Girl, thank god. You're the only one I trust for that."

I laughed, knowing she wasn't wrong. "Well. Then I won't let you down."

"So, then that means I'm responsible for the games. If y'all have suggestions, let me know. Won't be guaranteed but."

Peter chuckled. "Babe, we know your selection will be top tier. However, drunk twister wouldn't be a bad idea."

"I agree."

I looked over at Austin, who was smirking. We made eye contact and he winked at me. I turned my attention back to Sam.

There's something about Austin that doesn't sit right with me. I get this weird vibe from him. He was always so cocky. Not sure why.

"Also, you guys," Sam said. "Nothing crazy. I only want like 50 people max. House isn't that big."

Everyone agreed and the bell rang. Sam and I stood up together. She gave Peter a kiss before we walked away from them. Our next classes were right next to each other, so we always walked together and talked until the last bell.

"So, Liv." I hummed. We just got to our classes, so we had a few minutes to chat. "Anyone specific you would like to have me invite?"

I thought about it for a second, then shrugged. "No one in particular."

She gave me a look. "Olivia, you are not gonna convince me of that anymore."

"What? I don't care about guys or being in a relationship right now."

"Okay? So what about friends with benefits?"

She got me there. I thought for a second, then hesitated. "Um," Did I? "Honestly. Yeah I think I do. My ex is trash, I don't want an actual relationship right now. Not after that mess."

"Okay, then I got you girl. I know exactly who to pair you with."

"Who exactly?"

The warning bell rang. Sam shook her head. "It's a surprise. You're spending the whole weekend with me. Got it?"

"Yup. See ya."

We both went into our classes as the final bell rang.

Who in the hell is she talking about?
