Kaitlyn was waiting at home, on her couch, for Cameron to come home. He vowed to take revenge on the guy who had been flirting with her. Little does he know, she thought. She only hoped he would find the guy who had grabbed the hand of the one she had set her eyes on. She wasn't going to have a relationship with him- she was only going to take him home after their date. There's nothing wrong with that, now, is there? That boy, though, that she saw at the Denny's: he was any girl's dream. (Little does she know, eh?) He was very tall, he must have been 6'4", maybe even 6'5"! His build was without imperfections, even if it lacked some desirable traits. His eyes shined from behind his glasses, and while his ears and tail were kinda dumb, they were also kinda cute. So what was he doing with some 5'9", chubby tiger furry? I have all the most desirable features! I'm not too short, not too tall, have the fairest skin, a fashion sense, and long, brunette hair that falls to my waist! Why can't he appreciate me? The door opened to reveal Cameron, a content smile on his face.
"I found the guy," Cameron sighed, relieved. "He made up some lie about a boyfriend, but I saw right through it. Doesn't he know that boys don't have boyfriends?"
"I-I know, right?" Kaitlyn pretended to agree, but internally, she was questioning yet again why she was dating an idiot. Do gay people... just not exist to him? Kaitlyn decided to drop it. She was going to try again for that tall, gorgeous hunk of a man. Once she got him, she'd kick Cameron to the curb and have a better boyfriend.

Spifey had never imagined himself in this position before. But here he was. Lying in Zelk's bed, his boyfriend's bed, an arm across the smaller's chest to hold him close, another hand underneath Zelk's cheek, gently comforting the spot where he was clocked. Spifey buried his face into Zelkam's hair, feeling the warmth of his body spread into the other's. Memories of last night danced in Spifey's head. He was grateful that Zelk didn't let him go all the way- in hindsight, he'd have probably regretted it. He wasn't ready yet. Spifey sat up and leaned closer to his boyfriend's cheek, planting a small kiss on it.
"Morning, beautiful," Spifey gave a soft smile. Zelk groaned in response, stretching his arms and pushing his back into the beaver boy. "You still tired, Zelky?"
"What do you think?" he replied groggily. "It's early o'clock in the morning."
"Do you want five minutes?"
"Yes," Zelk buried his face in his pillow, proceeding to grab all the blankets and pile them on top of himself. Spifey slid off the bed, silently laughing.
"I'll be back soon, Sleeping Beauty," he whispered, going to his own room for his clothes. He grabbed a white tee and dusty brown jeans from his drawers and slipped them on. Ten minutes later, Spifey returned to Zelk's room. He flicked on the light. "Alright, Zelk, time to wake up."
"Go away," Zelk whined, fully buried under the covers.
"Zelk, I gave you ten minutes instead of five. You need to get up."
"Why? It's not like we do anything that would require us to be up early."
"I want to take you out," Spifey explained. "There's a little café with coffee and pastries not far from here. But they close at noon, so you need to wake up."
"What time is it now?" Zelk asked. "Seven in the morning?"
"It's eleven-thirty," Spifey replied.
"Shit, why didn't you tell me?" Zelk somehow managed to throw the 5-layer heap of blankets that he'd made off of him quickly, practically rolling out of bed. He dressed in his regular red sweater and tiger pajama bottoms, slipping on his santa hat. The pair had to practically run out the door, Spifey making sure to grab his brown jacket, but they reached the small café by 11:45. Snow littered the ground, and was still falling from the sky.
"So, what would you like?" Spifey asked.
"Coffee."
"Ah, I see. And tell me, would you like a food item with that?" The pair laughed at their own stupid joke, walking up to the window.
"For real, I'll take a mocha frappe and glazed donut. How about you, Spif?"
"He'll take me out, and leave you on the side of the road." Kaitlyn. Her hair up all fancy, makeup on her face. Spifey recognized her, and he was pissed.
"What the fuck is wrong with you?" Kaitlyn was confused.
"What do you mean?"
"You told your boyfriend that Zelk was flirting with you relentlessly? You know that's a lie! You were flirting with me! You spoiled brat! Just because someone doesn't date you doesn't mean they, or whoever is in your way, have to pay," Spifey was walking away from Zelk and closer to Kaitlyn as he continued to chew her out. "Here's some salt to the wound: he wasn't my boyfriend when we were in the Denny's. He just faked it because I, a gay man, was uncomfortable with being flirted with by strangers. We only started because I gathered the courage to tell him after he got assaulted on the street!" Kaitlyn looked at Spifey, then Zelk, then back at Spifey. It had really hit her hard that she was the reason they started dating. She still grabbed Spifey's hands and looked at him, her eyes pleading.
"I know what you want- and I know how to satisfy it. All you have to do is say 'yes.' Come with me, and we can be together forever! You don't want him." Spifey pulled away, and turned to Zelk. Zelk didn't know what Spifey was planning to say, but he could see in his eyes that he should roll with it.
"I wanted him last night," Spifey said with full confidence, turning to see a heartbroken Kaitlyn. She ran away, tears in her eyes. Spifey walked back to the café, Zelk having already gotten his food.
"You better hurry up," Zelk remarked. "They're closing in two minutes." Spifey panicked, running to the window and skimming the menu.
"What would you like today, sir?" the barista asked.
"Uh... I'll have the peppermint latte and a brownie, please!"
"Of course," the man smiled, preparing the drink. When it was done, he handed Spifey his order and closed up.
"So," Spifey made his way over to Zelk. "Should we head home or eat out on these outdoor benches?"
"It's freezing out here," Zelk answered. "But at the same time, I don't want to leave."
"We could turn the car on and eat in there," Spifey suggested.
"You know, that isn't such a bad idea," Zelk smiled, walking to his car. He got in and turned the heater on, taking a bite from his donut. The pair ate their sweet breakfast, watching as the snow continued to fall.
