Count On Me: Spifelk

Forever

It had been about a week since Spifey and Zelk officially became a couple. Zelk was on his bed with Spifey, looking back on the #UnbanZelk twitter raid. Spifey was playing with his hair, not paying attention to anything else.
"Spifey," Zelk looked up. "What are we gonna do in the future? How far are we gonna take our relationship? Are we gonna get married? Adopt kids?"
"I don't know," Spifey shrugged. "But I wouldn't worry about it. Focus on now. We can worry about what comes next later. You and I don't need to think about any of that right now."
"How long do you think we'll last?"
"I can't answer that, either. There's no guarantee of anything. All that I know is that I want to spend forever with you. That doesn't mean that I need a legal document, a ring, or kids to say that we're together. We may get those things. But for now, I just want to stay here, with you, doing what we're doing now."
"But don't you ever worry about us breaking up?"
"Why should I?" Spifey asked. "You wouldn't cheat on me, and I wouldn't cheat on you. We don't have any conflicting ideas about the future as far as I know. We love each other, and I don't see anything that would break us apart. Besides, if there was anything to suggest we'd break up in the future, it would be a reason to break up now. But there isn't anything, is there?"
"No," Zelk responded. Spifey was right- they didn't need their future laid out for them yet. Neither of them had plans outside of their YouTube careers. They didn't need a ring to prove their love. They didn't need an official legal document to be together. And they weren't ready for kids- who knows if they'd ever be? All that mattered was now. Zelk, scrolling through his social media. Spifey, playing with his hair, fully moved into the other's room.
After all, it seemed like they might have forever to think about their future.
