Nile's Pooch

It's Monday and I have calculus as my first class of the day. Not the best way to start my day but it is definitely not the worst.

"I told my fiancé's mom that I wanted turquoise silverware and baby blue for the table cloth" Sarah was describing to me what she wanted for her wedding decorations.

"Oh!" I replied nodding my head as I took out my laptop out of my bag. She was sitting in a chair to my right and there was an empty chair on my left for Linny, we all sat at the same table.

She went on, "but SHE" she emphasized, "wanted hot pink silverware and magenta for the tablecloth, like who does that, I do not like pink, not because I'm blond and she even had the audacity to say that to me!" she said as she bobbed her head  with her hand movement as if she was directing a orchestra.

"Yeah..." I did not care for what she was saying, it seems as if each time we meet she is talking about her wedding that is not going the way she wants it because of her future mother-in-law.

"Is it MY wedding or HERS?" she questioned as she waved her hands in the air, then she turned from me and brushed back her freshly pressed, mid length, blond hair with her right hand. She took a deep sigh and shook her head as she opened her notebook. we were now sitting quietly waiting for the professor to start.

"You know, sometimes she makes me second guess this whole marriage like, am I going to have to put up with her domineering presence for the rest of my life?" she said as she turned back to me her face red and her eyes glossy from the tears that were stuck in her eyelids.

"So why don't you call this whole shit off" I said in my mind as I blankly stared at her, I was getting annoyed with her continuous complaints. She does not even ask me how I am anymore now that she is engaged. I was not going to say it to her face, I did not want to hurt her and sometimes her complaining about her not so perfect life kind of makes me happy. I should not be this way, but I feel left out and her complaining make me feel like my life is not so bad after all.

"I just cannot do this, but I love him!" she said as she pulled at the corners of her lips, forcing in her tears. Then she looked away at the professor that just walked in.

"Good morning" we all said in unity, everyone turned to greet him.

"Good morning," he replied in a dusky voice then he cleared his throat, he stood in front of the class, "sorry I haven't had my morning coffee and my dog sitter was late, I could not leave my little poochy alone, so that's why I am a little late," he said with his left front tooth missing.

I tried not to pay attention to it, but his tooth was missing, and his teeth were all yellow. I wonder when the last time was that he saw a dentist, maybe never. I looked away shyly as he saw me staring at his teeth. He frowned a little and walked to his desk.

"I will now take the attendance, I hope everyone is here, we have only a minute until class starts" he said as he placed his computer bag on the desk, then he flopped down into the chair. His big round tummy shook like jelly under his plaid red and black shirt.

Sarah was awfully quiet I knew she was not thinking about class but about her wedding. I could understand that but she has not even asked about Linny, who is not here yet and is going to be late at this rate.

The door busted open and a frantic Linny walked in.

"Good morning!" she said hyper. She fixed her clothes and grabbed her bag with her left hand as it slipped off her right shoulder.

"Morning Ms. Barent," said the professor as he glimpsed at her at then back at his computer, typing with his two fingers like an old person.

Linny walked in with her head high pretending as if nothing happened. Sarah had her face in her palms holding her head down at this point, she did not even look up at Linny. Linny squeezed behind her to pass and I pulled up my chair squeezing my already small boobs up against the table to make room for her big hips.
