This new school is such a drag. Not one of the teachers can take a joke, and that apparently earned me a detention.

After the mind-numbingly long day, I hauled myself up the stairs, shouting 'hello' to my mom and siblings as I went. I opened the door to my bedroom and flicked the light on. My eyes were instantly drawn straight ahead of me and through the window. The girl sat at her desk, so engrossed in whatever she was doing.

Both windows were still open from our 'chat' last night. I could hear her soft singing from across the gap. Her house was too far away for me to make out much, but I could tell she had a beautiful voice.

I threw my bag down on the floor and made my way towards the window, my eyes glued onto her concentrated face.

I stood there for a while, until I saw a girl with half blue, half pink hair appear behind her. She seemed to surprise the girl, but a smile spread onto her face when she took the taller girl's features in.

They chatted for a while, the taller girl smirking and the familiar girl giggling in response. However, when their lips met, my heart sank.

I had no idea what I was feeling towards this girl. Hell, I didn't even know her name yet. But my stomach twisted as I watched the two kiss once or twice more. Then, their eyes met mine. I panicked for a second, until the blonde girl smiled her beautiful smile which always made my heart calm.

I turned away when I heard Emerson's voice behind me. "Dinner's ready." I followed him downstairs and ate with my family.

When I returned to my room, I saw that the girl next door was stood in the center of her bedroom. I noticed (what I presumed to be) her girlfriend moved in front of her so that I could only see half of the blonde girl's face.

My brows knotted together as I saw a struggle. It took me a second to realise what exactly was going on. The dancing girl's face scrunched together in struggle as I saw the taller girl trapping her into her chest.

"Hey!" I yelled. A sudden wave of anger washed over me. I wasn't sure what I was doing, but when I saw that the taller girl wasn't taking notice of my call, I crawled out of my window and scaled down the wall. I leaped over the short fence, then climbed up the arbour that clung to next door's wall. It lead to the open window, which I pushed open fully so that I could fit through.

"Leave her alone!!" I yelled, anger coursing through my veins. I gripped onto the taller girl's shoulders and ripped her away. I tossed her forcefully to the side, my attention fully on her.

I raised my balled fist and slammed it forcefully into the girl's face. She yelped in pain, but it clearly didn't do enough damage. She returned with a blow so strong that it caused me to stumble backwards.

She took the moment to stand up. I realised how tall she actually was- almost standing eye-to-eye with myself. I didn't waste a second in sending another blow her way, stronger than before. She fell to the ground once again and raised her arm up in defence.

"Alright! Man, get the fuck off me!" She yelled, scuttling across the floor and pushing herself up against the wall.

"I don't want to see your fucking face again." I sneered, my words dripping with poison.

"Fine!" She retorted, standing back up. The way she acted so defensive and cautious showed the fear that rushed through her veins.

I eyed her as she stormed out of the room. As soon as she was out of sight, my attention immediately darted to the girl. She sat on what I assumed to be her bed, her eyes squeezed tightly shut as the tears streamed down her cheeks. My heart dropped at the sight of her so distraught. Well, who could blame her? After what had just happened, the least I could do now was comfort her.

I wasted no time in sitting at her side, wrapping my arms around her and pulled her into my chest. "It's okay, I got you. I got you." I ran a hand up and down her back, caringly. I wasn't usually good at this stuff, but I recalled the times where my older brother and mother had consoled me, repeating their actions with this girl.

For a while she cried into my shoulder, and I continued to hold her close to me. I felt so comfortable around her presence. The reason why, however, was unknown. I'd never experienced something like this before, but I never wanted it to end.
