Their First Christmas

The snow laid in a thick layer all over the town. There was a lot more than yesterday and they hadn't plowed the streets yet, but there was a very cozy feeling about it all and no one seemed to really mind it.

At 10 they opened the doors, after 30 minutes of putting out everything and preparing the usual stuff. They were only going to be open for 2 hours.

The little bell above the door rang when their first costumer came in about 10 minutes later.
It was a very tall woman in her 40's, and she walked around the store for a few minutes, looking at flowers
Jamie was in the back of the store preparing some bouquets of different flowers.

The woman came up to the counter and placed a bouquet of red roses in front of Dani who was standing behind it.

" Nice choice, ma'am, those are really pretty."
the au pair told the woman.

"Thank you, they're for my husband." she answered. " I love your shop by the way, i've never been in here before, it's new isn't it? Did you just move her?"

"Actually we both moved here a few months ago, we live together just a couple of minutes away," Dani happily told the woman and saw Jamie also smiling at her across the room.

"Oh that's lovely, I wish I had such good friends that I could live with. I'm sure you have a great time together"

Jamie raised her eyebrows at her girlfriend, who let out a small giggle.

" Yeah, we have a great time, don't we Dani?" the gardener said. " Just a couple of best mates having a good time"

Jamie was done with her bouquets and walked to the counter. She went and stood just behind Dani and placed a hand in her hip, which the woman couldn't see but Dani could certainly feel.

" Well that's nice..." the woman said to both of the girls as she opened her purse to take out money. "I'm sorry, how much did you say it was?"

Dani, who was completely concentrated on Jamie's hand, had forgotten to that the woman was buying something. She was standing much closer behind her now and she could feel her breath on her neck.

"Oh, uhm... Yeah sorry that'll be 1,99.

The woman handed her the money.

"Thank you, have a great day!" Dani managed to say without sounding completely weird.

Dani opened the register to put the money in it without turning around, while Jamie still was right behind her, moving her hand in little circles.

"Well we sure were having a great time this morning, don't you think Poppins?" the gardener whispered in her girlfriends ear.

"Jamie!" she tried to say with a little warning in her voice.

"What, I'm just saying! But I would really like to do it again sometime, very soon"
She wrapped her arms around Dani's waist.

"Jamie..." Dani said trying to hide the fact that she would love to just drop everything right there and take her girlfriend into the back of the store and kiss her. Her eyes fell on a man that had walked in while the tall woman was paying. He walked around looking a little lost.
"There are people in here! Besides, you should go help that man to find what he's looking for!"

Jamie sighed and let go of Dani.

"Fine..."

The store eventually filled up with tons of people who had forgot to buy gifts or wanted to bring something nice for the ones they were going to visit tonight.
The hours went by and they were very busy, but the women kept giving each other longing looks across the store every time they would make eye contact.
