Their First Christmas

Tea

It was about after lunch, and Jamie and Dani had just finished closing up the flower shop.
They walked home together in the snow, side by side.

"Home sweet home" Jamie said when they had closer their door.

" God, it was freezing outside, should I make some tea?" Dani asked.

Jamie gave her a look.

"Fine... Jamie, do you want to make us some tea so I don't mess it up and you still have to make it?"

"Yes, I can do that, but you can help me though if you want to." she answered, smiling at her girlfriend.

Jamie yawned. Even though the store only had been open for two hours they had sold more than on most regular days, so there had been people everywhere all the time.
"I'm so tired, can we just rest a bit while we have tea?"

"Of course"

They sat down together on the couch, Dani half sitting-half laying down, and Jamie resting her head on Dani's lap. She played with her hair and they just sat there, drinking their tea in quiet.
It was one of those moments that you love the most, even though you're basically doing or saying nothing.
They just stayed like that for a while, listening to slow christmas music on the radio.

"So, what shall be our next step in our new christmas tradition?" Jamie asked after a while and sat up.

"Hmm... I don't know" Dani answered. "Maybe we could cook some food for tonight"

The gardener laughed.

"I mean sure we could try, but we are probably going to burn down the kitchen or something."

The au pair also laughed because she knew their cooking skills were not the best.

"Don't you want to open your gifts now?" Jamie asked Dani.

"I already have the best gift I could get," Dani answered, smiling at her girlfriend.

"What?"

"Being with you"

The gardener rolled her eyes.

"God, that is so cheesy!" she said, even though she was very flattered. "But it's also very sweet, and you know I love you Poppins"

"I love you too" she told her back. " But also, we should open our gifts tonight, or we won't have anything to look forward to!"

" Yeah, you're right. But I just want you to have your gift!"

Dani laughed about how exited Jamie was.

"I know, and I will tonight." she told her.
"By the way, you seemed to be in a good mood today in the shop, any particular reason?"

" I don't know Poppins, it must be the christmas spirit in the air or something" Jamie said ironically, mocking the way Dani had talked all day.

Dani rolled her eyes.

" Ha ha, very funny"

"Sorry, I'm kidding. I mean I'm always in a good mood with you, but I guess it was just that I hate that we have to hide our relationship from everyone and I wanted to just.. I don't know."

" I know, and I hate it too..."

" Well," Jamie said, apparently in a much better mood now. " Should we go for a walk in the beautiful weather?"

"Sounds perfect."
