Patton watched as Virgil passed by his brother, not missing Roman's' hateful glare. He swallowed awkwardly at the silence that now hung in the room and Roman looked back at him. "C'mon, Pat, let's go," He said, beckoning, and Patton obediently jumped after him as he began to leave.
The corridors were busy and bustling, pushing Patton nervously into his brother as he tried to avoid anyone who reminded him of the others which, annoyingly, meant everyone. Roman put a hand on his twin's shoulder, either to calm him down or help steer him through the sea of students. By the time they reached the cafeteria, Patton was ready to go home.
Roman brought him over to a small table, tucked out of the way of everyone else with no one sitting on it. "This good, Pat?" He asked the bubbly guy.
"Yeah, it'll be fine," Promised Patton, trying to offer his brother his usual happy smile as he sat on one of the benches and Roman went to sit on the other. He twiddled his fingers around as he watched his brother bring out his lunch from his bag, not moving to get his own. Patton hesitated. "So... What do we do?"
"Uh... Eat? I think. That's what I do, anyway," Joked Roman with a small laugh. He frowned nervously when he saw Patton hadn't moved from where he sat. "You can eat, Pat. I already told you, if anyone gets any ideas, you can come right to me and I'll-"
"What did Virgil mean about you not liking him?" Patton blurted.
Roman blinked slowly at him. "That's what you're worrying about?" He exclaimed.
Patton bowed his head.
"I'm not worrying..." he mumbled, slightly closing in his shoulders when his brother sighed in annoyance, rolling his eyes.
"Patton, Virgil's not a good person to hang around with. There are far better people. Like Valerie. That's Valerie, over there-"
"Roman, can you just answer my question?" Pleaded Patton, making eye contact. "Virgil seems really nice, why don't you like him?"
By the look on Roman's face, you'd have thought that Patton had just asked why Roman didn't want to blow up the school. "Uh... Because he's a bad influence?"
"How?"
"Well," Roman cleared his throat, straightening his back. "For starters, he's a druggie. People have seen him take stuff in school-"
"What type of drugs?" Patton interrupted.
Roman frowned. "Look, Virgil's not important, just know that he's not a good person." He rolled his eyes again, beginning to tuck into his lunch. "Just ignore him."
"Why should I?"
"Jesus, Pat," Roman nearly snapped at him, but he kept himself under control. "He's an awful, bad person and shouldn't be in this school. Just keep away from him. He's a bully."
"No, you're the bully, Roman!" Argued Patton suddenly, standing quickly. "Virgil's nice, he defended me from a jerk when I barely knew him! You're being such a- a- b-hole!" And with that he grabbed his bag from the table, marching away, leaving his twin very, very surprised.

Patton was hungry but he didn't stop walking away from the cafeteria until he dunked into the library. It was quiet and practically empty apart from a few students listening to music through headphones while flipping through books and one boy eating his lunch.
Actually, he knew that boy.
"Virgil!" He whispered happily, making the darkly dressed one start. He quickly rushed over, beaming. "Hello!" He chirped.
Virgil looked up at him silently. "Hi... I... I thought you'd be eating with your brother," Virgil eventually replied, keeping quiet too, his eyebrows furrowed in confusion and even concern.
"Yeah, so did I," Patton shrugged as he sat down in front of him. "But he was being rude about you so I left."
Virgil looked at him, wide-eyed. "You did?"
"Well, sure, kiddo!" Pattons' smile grew cheerfully. "I couldn't let him be rude about my new friend without consequences."
"That's... Really nice of you," Virgil mumbled, looking down at the packet of chips in his hand. "Thank you."
Pattons' beam grew even brighter. "No problem! That's what friends do."
They sat in silence for a while until Virgil finally managed to say something. "So... What made you move schools?"
"Oh, uh, just other students being nasty to each other," Patton said. Technically it wasn't a lie. "It wasn't a very safe place for me." He self consciously began to fiddle with his cardigan, avoiding looking at Virgil.
Virgil looked sympathetic. "This school isn't much better, honestly. But, you've got your brother-"
"And you!" Patton reminded him with a smile.
The darkly dressed guy blinked at him, surprised. "U-Uh... Yeah, I guess. You got... the both of us."
And Patton beamed proudly. Virgil smiled back awkwardly and the conversation stilled a little. The warning bell ran, making the both of them jump. "So, what classes do you have?" Virgil asked quickly. Patton nodded, hurrying to open his bag.
He fiddled past notebooks, his pencil case and other school necessities until he found the sheet of paper and pulled it out. "Aw, no," He mumbled. "Crumpled already."
"That's fine," Assured Virgil, moving next to Patton and looking over his shoulder. "You can still read it."
"True," Nodded Patton. The two read through the table, Virgil nodding and Patton confused at the layout.
Virgil tapped his finger against the page, directing the bubbly ones' attention. "So, today's a Monday and you've got history after lunch on a Tuesday in Mr Roberts' room." Patton nodded thoughtfully, trying to recall his map, when Virgil shyly cleared his throat. "I could, um, walk you there. If you like. Since your brother isn't here to."
"Really?" Patton chirped. "Well, that would be just tickety-boo!"
"Tickety-boo?" Echoed Virgil with a confused frown.
"I-I mean, it'll be cool," Patton amended awkwardly. "And I won't have to sort out this map. But, it won't get you in trouble, will it?"
Virgil scoffed. "Nah, I got Geography with Mrs Parry, which some genius builder put in the history block-" Patton laughed at that. "-Besides, I-I guess, friends do what friends do."
Patton smiled happily at the boy, and Virgil smirked back shyly. "Thank you, Virgil," He beamed. "I-I'll make it up to you-!"
"Hey, no need," Promised Virgil, holding his hands up quickly. "I-It's not a problem, a-and I don't mind. No need to go out of your way for me, it's fine. But, we will need to hurry before we're late."
"Oh, yeah, time schedules..."
Huh. So, I wrote that.
Hello, readers, this is Authorchan, or AnxiouslyShipping, and I'm the second writer on Anonymous XX. Some of you probably don't know me, and I don't blame you - I've only been on Wattpad for a little over a year and am hardly in the top ten best writers in the fanders' community.
Hey, look at that, I tried to be modest.
Anyway, enough of me pretending to be funny, I hope you enjoyed this chapter! I don't usually write A/Ns, so this was most likely a little cringey, but maybe you forgive me.
And now, I bid thee goodbye!
