"I'll see you tonight." He whispered.
Phantom smiled and nodded. "See you tonight."
__________________________________Before Danny had left the Pizzeria that morning, Phantom had suggested Danny go to the police and report what they had found. Danny of course, had been reluctant at first, but eventually agreed once Phantom had helped him come up with a cover story as to why he had even come across it in the first place, and why he couldn't tell them who the attacker was.
They had also decided to leave the blood all over Danny and his uniform to make the story more believeable. Danny could also never be more grateful for his acting skills. He needed them for a lot of...events that he would rather not talk about.
So, after kissing Phantom goodbye and purposely leaving the door unlocked, he left his keys somewhere inside the Pizzeria to make it seem like he ran out of the place in a hurry. He still had cuts and bruises, although some were admittedly from Phantom himself during their...session, and his uniform was ripped; courtesty of Dash's claws and Sam's teeth.
Danny sprinted from the front of the Pizzeria, ignoring his car still parked in the abandoned lot, and went straight towards the Police Station. The adrenaline and soreness in his limbs made it hard to breathe and he almost fell a few times.
By the time he got to the beige-bricked building, he was beyond tired. He didn't even need to act. He stumbled through the clear glass doors and towards the front desk.
At his sudden intrusion of the calm atmosphere in the station, he gained several surprised and shocked stares from those inside. Although it seemed like his body worked through its last whim and his knees buckled.
Luckily, a Deputy had managed to catch him and carefully lower him to the floor. His vision swam and he knew he had definitely overworked and overstimulated himself.
He felt himself being lifted into a chair, where he slumped tiredly and downed the cup of water another Deputy had given him. He panted and wheezed. His side and shoulder hurt like a bitch now that he thought about it.
"Hey son, are you alright now?" The blonde, well built, male Deputy asked him.
A single nod yes from Danny.
"Can you tell us what happened?" Blonde guy asked.
"I-I was working my night shift at Phantom's and everything seemed normal and well. But I started hearing weird noises coming from somewhere in the building, and went to see what the problem was."
The Deputy- Jordan his tag said, nodded indicating for Danny to continue; all while another one was taking notes on his report.
"The hall was dark and gross, it looked like a much older part of the building that hadn't been used in years. At first, I thought it was rats or something, so I followed the sound to an old storage closet at the end of the hall. The door was rusted and the floor was moldy. I pushed the door open, only to find the bloodied bodies of people hanging out of old suits. The room was covered in blood and it smelled horrible."
Jordan's eyes sparked with worry and a hint of curiosity.
"Did you recognize any of the victims?" Jordan asked.
Danny breifly thought back to when he stumbled into the room.
"No. I could barely even tell they were people. The bodies were so mutilated that the only reason I knew they were people were because of the matching nightguard suits they were all wearing."
"Suits like yours?"
"Yes. It's dress code so every night guard gets the same outfit for the job when they apply."
Jordan considered his answer for a while, before looking back at Danny once more. That's when he seemed to notice the state Danny was in.
"I also happen to notice that your uniform isn't in very good condition, as well as yourself. What happened after you found the bodies?"
Danny swallowed. Here comes the lie.
"Well, my vision through the door was kind of limited so I walked inside to see if anyone might have been alive still. But when I walked inside, I realized that there would have been no chance of any of them would've been alive. But before I could go anywhere, a figure ran towards me and attacked me. They managed to tear my uniform and cut me a bit before I broke away. But unfortunately, I slipped on some semi-wet blood and fell before I finally managed to scramble my way out of the room and into the hall. I just ran after that. I didn't stop. I just ran straight down the hall, outside, and all the way here." He explained.
The explanation seemed reasonable enough. Or at least he hoped it did.
Jordan seemed thoughtful for a moment before he turned a questioning gaze towards Danny.
"You said a figure attacked you. Were you able to see who it was by any chance?" Jordan asked.
Danny gulped. Shit.
He shook his head. "No, it was too dark and they were wearing all black. That, and they were too fast."
Another lie.
Jordan stared at me skeptically.
Shit, I don't think he believes me!
A lone bead of sweat rolled down the back of Danny's neck. He prayed to whatever deity was out there that Jordan would believe him.
Jordan continued to stare for what felt like an eternity, before finally looking back at the other officer who was taking notes on his interrogation. She nodded at him; but all she got was a curt nod in return. Jordan turned his attention from her back to him.
"Alright, thank you for this information, you have been extremely helpful. Paramedics are on their way. We will investigate this ward of the pizzeria and see if whoever attacked you is still there. For now though, relax and we'll keep you updated." Jordan responded.
Danny shakily nodded and watched as Jordan walked away, the note taker woman right on his heels. When he was far enough, Danny furrowed his brows in suspicion. Towards the end of the questioning Jordan's answers were suddenly very clipped and professional. Why? Did he know something Danny didn't?
Something weird was definitely going on and clearly Jordan knew Danny had lied. Jordan definitely knew more about the attack then he had let on, and Danny was determined to figure out how much the deputy knew, and if he could be trusted.
One thing was for sure though, he had to tell Phantom.
TBC...
__________________________________Okay so, I know this chapter is extremely short and I am so sorry. I said I wasn't going to be one of those authors but I definitely was and I assure you I can explain. So I got a horrible case of writers block and I had no ideas, and then moving into high school was a bitch. And I know it's been a few years since I started 😅 but I can say that my writing has improved and I will try to add more now that things have temporarily calmed down. Though I can't say for how long since I am a sophomore in high school now, I will try my best. Plus, I have new resources so hopefully it'll be much better than before. So again I am so sorry I have been MIA for years but hopefully this makes it a bit better? This chapter was meant to be a bit of a filler and I will say that sometimes there will be time skippies between chapters that are there but not really stated. So hopefully that makes things easier. Anyway, I love you guys and so sorry for the long ass wait and kind of bad grammar I hope this chapter was okay.
