Wait! Friend?

Kayla's POV

We've been travelling for hours! Honestly my bum is starting to get sore. Dragon hide is not soft on the backside. Devlin said that we should be arriving at a save place soon. I just want to find some sort of peace, somewhere that I can call home. Dad is gone. I can't return to our house on earth that holds so many memories, so many moments of us. Vita looks to be my best hope of finding a home.       

Devlin said that my age will make me a subject of curiosity and also strangely enough, a source of hope for all the dragons that haven't found their bond mates. Dragons without bonds can become isolated from others and could possibly turn feral. Most feral dragon's live wild in the mountains. If they attack residents of any kingdom they could be put down. It's sad to know that due to being on another dimension I could have caused my dragon to perish, but the comfort that I felt from the blue light gives me hope that he's still out there. My dragon is my only family left and my last tie to my dad's beliefs, I hated the idea that he could have caused my dad to die. I understood now that my dad is stubborn... was stubborn and that once he had an idea in his head he could not be persuaded against it.

'Devlin to you have universities in Vita?'

'Yes, Kayla. They are called academies where you can study any field you want. I think you will fly through other dimension studies.' Devlin thinks he's so funny.  

'Will I be able to study? I'm from a different world I hope I can study. I've always wanted to become a doctor and specialise in children.'

'I honestly think that you will be fine. We will go to the Knights and tell them what has happened to you and your father, coming through that portal. They will test your academic level and place you in a school. Although the ruling council will most likely want to talk to you. The portals are a safety measure. If anything was to happen here on Vita then the public will be able to escape into the other dimensions and be safe. The idea that you were attacked when you used an unmarked portal will need to be addressed.'  

'urm how to you know all of this?'

'Well Kayla, my dad is a general in the Fire Kingdom and is regularly attending ruling council meetings as a representative'

'So you're kind of a big deal then!' oh dear already giving wrong impression and I've barely met anyone here.

'I could be if I wanted to be. Not meaning to sound cryptic but when I do mention who my father is, people want to know me for the power me and my friends could potential give them. Me and my bro's just want to hang out and just be normal before duty weighs us down.'

'Bro's? What are you 16? Only kids say that about their friends'

'No my friends and I have been together for so long. They are a part of my family now they are my brother's. We are all a part of the same team for the Knights that we always have each other's backs. Yeah they are my bro's'.

'That must be nice to have that friendship. Boys were too afraid of my dad to be my friend and the girls didn't like that I didn't want to wear bright pink all the time.' Remembering how lonely my life was is depressing. It's all going to change now.

'You know girl, your decent people, when you're not accusing me off stealing your dreams. I'll start you off on your friend journey and you can be my friend.'

Great my first friend in Vita. Let's just hope that he is the first of many. I get the feeling that I belong here.
