As is tradition in the Akiire tribe, when two come together as mates, they will decide on the end-name to take. When they have children, their children also take on that end-name. This means that Purple-Veins is the mother of Ice-Veins, and Ice-Veins chose Ivory-Veins as his mate, and together they had Fog-Veins as a son. Outsiders are not expected to take on the end-names of their mates, but they are expected to give their children end-names. If two outsiders mate, then their off-spring can have outsider names.
