"SO I TAKE it none of our plans worked?" ashido asked dejectedly. the other members who were part of the plan shook their head with downcast eyes.
kaminari stood up from the floor, "i don't get it, we've tried everything we possibly could to get her to smile!"
"funny videos didn't work," midoriya muttered, dipping his chin to his chest. toru sighed, "so does food apparently." sero laughed quietly, "those were good cookies though," resulting in a few murmurs of agreement.
todoroki clasped his hands together, "the library was a failure as well." kirishima slumped his back, "so did kaminari's stupid jokes," earning a smack from the said male. "you laughed, bro."
"pick-up lines was not the best idea," shoji remarked, giving mineta a look. tokoyami grunted, "discussing music wasn't either," recalling the scolding he, jiro and bakugo got from aizawa, who was woken up from his sleep.
class 1-A lost themselves in their thoughts and disappointment of their blunder, failing to notice the subject of their mission leaning on the wall in amusement.
"so this is what you guys have been trying to do all along," (y/n) pronounced, startling the whole class as their eyes shift towards the female.
ashido abruptly stood up in surprised, "(y/n)? what are you doing here? how long have you been standing there? how much did you hear?"
the (h/c) haired girl walked into the common room and plopped herself down on a vacant space. "i went out to get groceries, it's my turn this week."
she looked at everyone in the room, "i passed by the common room and saw everyone here. thought there was an important announcement but i overheard your discussion instead."
everyone looked away in embarrassment, "(y/n)..." ochaco locked eyes with the straight-faced girl, "we're sorry, we weren't planning on going behind your back or anything."
"we just wanted to see you smile for once,"
(y/n) kept silent while class 1-A were left in fear of the fact that they might have probably offended their friend. what they did not expect to hear was soft laughter, coming out from the expressionless girl herself.
"i'm not mad, if anything i'm touched," (y/n) began. "your plan wasn't a failure because i did smile."
"what?!" some of the class 1-A students exclaimed, to which they received another round of soft laughter from the girl once again.
when she stopped her laughter, (y/n) sat up straightly, "i'm sorry that i don't smile much, i've always felt insecure about my smile." she admitted.
the gazes sent her way softened after hearing her confession, now they knew the reason why she was expressionless.
"i'm sure you have a beautiful smile, kero," asui reassured, some nodding in unison. (y/n) couldn't help the blood rushing to her cheeks, feeling the support her class was giving her.
"thank you," (y/n) looked down. the class looked at her expectantly. "with me feeling that way, i realised i didn't really had any reasons to smile anymore,"
they looked at her in silence, not knowing what to say. yet another surprise awaits for class 1-A when the (h/c) haired girl raised her head to look at every one of her friends.
"but maybe now i do have a reason."
there it was, the smile they had longed to see, etched on her radiant face. that smile alone caused the whole class to grin along with their fellow friend, knowing that whatever they did had been worth it.
