We both zoomed over to the building All Might landed on, and we started climbing the fire escape, all the way up to the roof, which took a few minutes, because the fire escape was pretty long and difficult.
By the time we got to the roof, we heard two people talking on the roof. One voice was the one of All Might, and the other one was young sounding. A boy. Sounds familiar
"...Even if I don't have a quirk, can I still become a hero?" The younger sounding voice inquired. "Can someone without a quirk be like you?"
Without a quirk...
"Mommy?"
"Yes, baby?"
"Why don't you move water like me? Or do lasers like Koko?"
"..."
"Mommy?"
"I..I can't, Toto."
"Why can't you?"
"I...I just can't."
"..ello? Hello? Earth to Kyoto?"
"Hm? What happened?"
"Listen for yourself, it's getting good."
"Now that you've seen me like this, young man..make sure you don't write about it online, even accidentally." All Might said in his now gruff, sickly voice.
There was the sound of a shirt, and then a gasp.
"It's an injury I got from an enemy's attack five years ago." All Might explained. "Half of my respiratory organs were destroyed, and I lost my whole stomach. I've become emaciated from repeated surgeries and the aftereffects."
"I knew it!" Koko whisper yelled. I mean, I did too, but I didn't think it was that bad.
All Might continued to explain things we already knew. He said that the fight was not made public, but we found footage through sources that..will not be named.
"Pros are always risking their lives. I cannot simply say, 'You can become a hero without power'." Ouch. I know that hurt the younger boy. "It's not bad to dream. But you have to consider what's realistic, young man."
And with that, All Might seemed to have left. That's kinda crushing. The world's greatest hero just told this kid he couldn't be a pro hero.
We slowly started climbing back down the fire escape.
"Hey, Koko."
"What?"
"That kid. Doesn't he remind you of-"
"DON'T speak. Just don't."
"..ok."
And, suddenly, explosions down the block. I glanced at Koko.
