Chapter 3

May 6th: The End of The World, The Banner Household

     "Natalie! It's almost noon! Get up!" I shouted from the kitchen in our house. I had already looked at the clock to find it was 8:00 am. Right on time. I always made an effort to bug Natalie first thing in the morning, so that way, if anything else happened throughout the day it wasn't seen as my fault.

     "Alex, If you woke me up before 10:30 I SWEAR to god... IT'S ONLY EIGHT!" Natalie shouted back.

     "No fighting! If I have to come in there you're BOTH grounded!" Our dad said from the other room. " I'm going to the store, so you two better behave yourselves. I'll be back later," He said grabbing a jacket.

     "Ok. We will. Right, Nat?" I asked her with the goofiest grin on my face.

     "Right," Natalie said with that phoney smile she had when she was mad. It was always the funniest thing. " Can I invite my friends over later? " She asked knowing the perfect way to get back at me.

     "Ok, just don't lock your brother in the closet again, I don't need another song about how he's coming out..." Dad replied before heading out the door.

     I sat on the couch scrolling through my grumblr messages for a few minutes. Mostly people from class asking what was gonna be on the chem test. And to be honest, if they had paid any attention in class they would know there wasn't one.

     "Alex! Can you listen for the door?" Natalie asked from the other room.

     "Yeah, are your friends on the way?" I asked.

     "Yeah, they'll be here in like ten minutes" Natalie replied.

     Then my phone started buzzing. Great. Probably more people about the test.
