Dinner was kind of award considering the fact that there were three adult men upstairs in my bedroom right now that my parents didn't know of. I tried to finish eating quickly as to not leave them unattended for too long. I knew that back in their day they were quite the troublemakers, so who knew what kind of mischief they could get into now.
"Es, have you got yourself a date to the homecoming dance?" My dad asked. I internally rolled my eyes.
"No. Why's it matter anyway? I went last year."
"Esther, it's your senior year. You should go. Maybe Atticus will ask you. Or maybe Austin?" My mom suggested, making googly eyes at me at the mention of my best friend and long time crush.
"Oh man. Too bad. Atticus is already planning on asking somebody and Austin is going with Teegan." She nodded her head and dismissed the subject. I thought up to the boys upstairs. If my mom is going to guilt trip me into going, maybe I could ask Maurice or Robin? Barry is probably too old. I mean, the twins are probably around my age - 18 or 19, so that'd leave Barry to be around 21 or 22.
Finished with my food, I got up to place my dishes in the sink. But I stopped in my tracks and almost dropped my plate as music flowed down from upstairs. Shit.
"What is that?" My dad asked, getting up from his chair and walking towards the steps.
"Uhm, I forgot to turn my record player off?" I lied and sped up the stairs before he could go.
When I opened my door, the brothers looked at me with fearful eyes. "He did it!" They exclaimed in unision, all pointing at the other. I laughed at them as they glared at each other for ratting the other out.
"What am I going to do with you guys?" I joked. What AM I going to do with them? They can't really stay here during the day. They might wander off and get lost or burn the house down.
