After hours of walking, we found a hill which we stopped on. The air was humid and the clouds were covering the sun. We sat down and looked into the distance. The birds flew above like bullets from a gun. In the distance we could see the sea. The gentle waves scattered the evening sun like fragments of diamonds on the shore. Suddenly, Olivia jumped up. She beckoned me to the other side of the hill. I walked over and she pointed into the distance. Then i saw it. Tents! Millions of them scattered along the shore. I rubbed my eyes and blinked. I wasn't dreaming. All of a sudden Olivia hugged me. A weird sensation ran through my body. Without hesitation i hugged her back.
We sprinted down the hill making our way down to the swarm of tents. I had never been this excited before. We were greeted by a young man about 20 or so. The young man had a hank of dirty blonde hair and hazel eyes that shone a honey brown color in the sun. He smiled and welcomed us. He explained how he made a group of people who helped the people who were running away from the fire. I was sure my parents were here. He took us to a tent and sat us down. he gave us some water and asked what we were doing there. we explained how we came to find our family and he smiled widely with is snowy white teeth. The told us to follow him so we did. He called someone out of a different tent. It was a boy, about 18 or so. He had the same golden hair as Olivia and the same emerald green eyes. He looked up at me and Olivia. Just as he saw her his eyes widened and his lips curled into a smile as did Olivia's. She ran towards him and gave him a tight hug.It must have been her brother. i smiled as they began to cry.
'Ash, this is Lucas. He helped me a lot' I looked up and smiled reaching out my hand for him to shake. He took it and said ' Thank you for looking after my sister'. The man called us to another tent in front of which stood a tall man, a small lady and a little girl. I ran like i had never run before and grabbed them all into a hug. I never wanted to let go. 'Lucas. oh my god my baby! Are you okay?' asked my mum grabbing onto me . ' Yeah i'm fine don't worry' i replied. 'And who may this be?' asked my father looking at Olivia. 'Oh that's Olivia. we met as i was trying to find you.' My father smiled. It was a kind of smile he did when he knew i liked a girl. I blushed. 'Go ask her' said my father in a quiet voice. I walked over to her and slowly took her hand. ' Olivia,' i said in a nervous voice. 'Ever since i met you i can get you out of my head' She smiled. 'Me too' she said. She looked at me and kissed my cheek. I turned red. 'Come on then!' said my father 'Olivia and ash your part of the family now'. We all hugged and i could never be happier.
I remember it being the best night of my life. Its strange how a fire helped me find Olivia and also understand how important family is .
