It was the day after Chara and Plushie tried to escape the ruins.

Chara knows what she had to do. But she couldn't bring herself to not tell what she feels like IS her father.

Chara: Plushie? I think I have to tell him.

Plushie: What?!

Chara: I can't bring myself to just walk away...

Plushie: But he'll try to stop us!

Chara: Then... let me at least give him a hug before we leave...

Plushie: I.... I understand.

Chara went into the living room on her own.

Asgore: My child?

Chara said nothing but just hugged him.

Asgore: Ah. I see, if it is a hug you want, that is fine with me.

Chara: Thanks father...

~Timeskip~

It was now another night, Asgore didn't go down the stairs like he did the previous night. Chara and Plushie decided to use that opportunity.

Plushie: C'mon Chara! We won't get another chance, so once we get to the door, do your best to push it open!

Chara: O-okay!

Chara hurried down the staircase and ran down the corridor. But they slowed down to catch their breath.

They breathed in and out a little too loud to not hear the footsteps behind them.

Chara: Is... this it?

Plushie: Yes, the exit to the ruins.

???: Where are you going my child?

Chara:(!)

Plushie:(Oh no!)

Chara: F-father??

Chara was sweating as she turned around and saw the towering figure of Asgore.

Asgore:..My child? Did you want to leave?

Chara wanted to say "No." But she already felt guilty of trying to sneak out. So she couldn't stop herself.

Chara: Y-yes...

Asgore:...*sigh*

Asgore: And that's why you hugged me a while ago? Your way of saying "Goodbye"?

Chara:...yes.

Asgore: My child. Listen.

Chara couldn't do anything but comply.

Asgore: You are not the first to try this you know.

Chara: ???

Asgore: Every time a human has fallen down here, they leave, they get past me. And eventually, through whatever part of their journies...

...they die.

Asgore: I have seen child after child die. And now you want to try and leave as well?

Chara:...

Chara: Yes...

Asgore: Hm...

Asgore: I've tried to stop all those children before. But now, I realize it is pointless. So I will let you leave.

Chara:(?!) You will!?

Asgore: Yes. It doesn't take a fool to know when to stop trying. And even if you did stay here, this isn't the best place for a child to grow up in. You'd be unhappy. I just wished you would have no reason to leave. These ruins feel small once you've lived here long enough.
