Chapter 7

The plane slowly ascended from the ground, the Captain speaking into the intercom. 

"Good afternoon passengers. This is your captain, Carson Oakland, speaking. First I'd like to welcome everyone on Alas Flight 87C. We are currently cruising at an altitude of 29,000 feet at an airspeed of 350 miles per hour. The time is 10:05 am. The weather looks good and with the tailwind on our side, we are expecting to land in Maldovia approximately ten minutes ahead of schedule. The weather in Maldovia is clear and sunny, with a high of 29  degrees for this afternoon. If the weather cooperates we should get a great view of the city as we descend. The cabin crew will be coming around in about thirty minutes to offer you a light snack and beverage, and in about two hours you will be served lunch, and the inflight movie will begin shortly before that. I'll talk to you again before we reach our destination. Until then, sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the flight."

I'll be on this flight for the next 7 hours on my own not knowing where anyone I truly know is. Sounds like a plan, my Medical team was sitting behind me chatting, once the plane was stable in the air I got up to look at everyone trying to remember everyone. 

"Attention." Many Eyes turned to me. I noticed Zoe, a girl on my team not paying attention, taking swift steps towards her, I stood close to her and cleared my throat. She snapped her head to me probably expecting someone else. She quickly put her fingers to her forehead. 

"Zoe, pay attention."
"Yes ma'am" 

I smiled at her secretly and turned back to the medical team that took up a quarter of the plane. Eric was staring at me, probably wanting me to start the long-lasting speech he had prepared.

I stared at my colleagues knowing that this was the first time on a mission for some of them. 

"Good Morning all, before I start let me introduce myself. My name is Lorraine Anderson. Major Anderson for you. I am the head of the Medical Department for this Mission and a Medical Genius. I specialize in cardiothoracic surgery and General Surgery. Yes, I am very young, but don't doubt my skill, just how we always say don't judge a book by its cover. Anyway, I want to tell you the three Golden Rules in the Medical Team. 

1) I absolutely do not accept any Medical malpractice, anybody who does will be punished severely.

2) If you want to Date do it in a way that I don't find out, if I like you you might get off with a warning, if I don't, well it won't end well. So better behave. I don't want relationships affecting my work or causing harm to innocent people. Male and Female will be sleeping separately for all of you that are having wrong thoughts. Sexual intimacy is prohibited, well, except you succeed in doing it without anyone noticing. Anybody who comes to tell me they are pregnant will be deported with their Baby Daddy.

3) Ask before going into risky situations. Don't just die off. I really do not want to mourn."Everyone looked touched by what I had just said, but of course, me being me the cold bish I took a deep breath and continued.

"Because I really do not want to fill a statement or any paperwork to explain as to why you died with your stupidity." I smiled at the end. Soldiers that didn't know me looked shocked at my last statement, but people who knew me from before just simply looked like they had heard just enough of my nonsense through the years. Zoe was snickering at the back at the newcomers.

"So We are 20 in total, while  20 other Maldovian Nurses are awaiting us at Camp since we are not that many people might have more responsibility than others. Now that the obvious is cleared let us enjoy the flight. Any more questions?" Zoe raised her hand, people turned to her probably expecting me to give her permission to talk yet I just ignored her and smiled at the people who were very much baffled by my attitude. 

"Perfect. Enjoy your flight. Oh, wait. The leaders of this mission will be introduced later on. That's it."
