I tried to work on this portion to tie up all of Collin's words but I kinda think it still sucks. Still, here's my attempt!

This is a journal that I will be keeping over the next 6 months to complete my final graduation project. It is used to help me record my thoughts as I embark on the project and is also used to aid me in the penning of my final research paper.

Warning/ Note to self: Most of the things written here are not detailed - the details go into my final paper. Be warned of academic snobbery and random late night philosophical thoughts.

Name: Collin Alexander Clark

About me: I love history. I love studying about the past. People always question the rationale behind studying the past. What's the use of dwelling on things that have gone, why not just focus on the tomorrow, instead of the yesterday? I would say, the past is what shapes you. The past is what shapes your future. Every decision you make is influenced by it. Hence, do not belittle it. Do not belittle the past. (17) I believe each person's past carries tremendous weight - it can steer one's entire future. This is precisely what makes it interesting.

(Of course, the study of history is not possible without the help of technology. Technology in itself is full of surprises and possibilities.)

Entry 1: Research topic and rationale

"There are things which are preordained - people call this fate. Things that happen in one's lifetime will repeat themselves no matter how many times you do a reset. People had thought that time travel could allow one to create a ripple effect of changes if something in the past was disturbed, but let me dispute this once and for all.

They don't.

Hence, we do not return to the past to reinvent the future. We only observe." (1)

This was what Professor Lee said in his first lecture, and this is the reason why time-travel is used as a tool to revisit the past and document human history. It is considered safe because it does not give us the power to change the course of any person's life or to meddle with the affairs of people from the past.

(I digress but this leads me to wonder:

Are we the masters of our destiny, or is it the other way around? (22)

We may think that we are forging our own path, but we are actually playing into the hands of destiny itself.)

Anyhow, since time-travel is safe, my batch mates and I were granted the funding to make several trips to a bygone year of our choice to conduct our final research.

For my graduation project, I had chosen to investigate the reliability of first-hand verbal accounts. Thus, the central question that I will answer is:
