CHAPTER 4 - THE UNLIKELY BOND

October's coming on real quick. Everything seems to happen in a blur. She enjoyed her classes and friends, but of course she would never forget that time when Professor Quirrell decided to enter the great hall, running in fear and shouted the words, "Troll in the dungeon!"

It bothers her that someone had let a troll in the school unnoticed, she would also like to know what was the reason for it.

Of course, she knew about the heroic acts of Potter with Weasley saving Hermione from that troll by the girl's bathroom. Everyone seems to be talking about it whenever they have the chance. Well they are considered brave for doing so, not all first years could single apprehended a giant troll on its own. Besides, Harry Potter has a reputation to hold.

By the morning, especially when most students gathered at the great hall for breakfast she was sitting on the Ravenclaw's table with Maria next to her.

She told Maria of how she managed to get quite fond of the Quidditch play. She fancies the sport of flying on the broom, zooming and feeling the fresh air whilst bringing glory to the house. As they were talking, she saw her father entering the great hall and he seemed to be limping. No one really notices it but as soon as she saw it, she would definitely ask him about it. What surprises her is that he took the liberty to give praise to Harry for his upcoming Quidditch play by later in the evening.

But why? Is he truly impressed with Harry's skill or is it just a mere insult since the Gryffindor team's going head to head with Slytherin.

But seeing Harry's reaction, she notices a slight odd feeling radiating from him. Why did Harry so suddenly regroups and whispers with Hermione and Ron, as if they were up to something. And why does Harry keep glancing back and forth to Snape, like he was suspecting something. Alas, she didn't want to be one of those people that buts into other people's business.

Overhearing their recent conversation, a Ravenclaw comes by to her side of the table and invites her to watch a friendly Quidditch play just before the actual play between Gryffindor and Slytherin. Her name was Skye Parkin, a fifth year. Skye was born as a member of the Parkin family, which was famous for Quidditch. Her father, Ethan Parkin, was considered a Quidditch legend, and her ancestors founded the Wigtown Wanderers, not to mention she's also the captain of Ravenclaw's Quidditch team.

Then Elaine was brought to the stands, watching the Ravenclaw team play a friendly match as a part of their training. Skye told her about everything the Quidditch has to offer, she even takes a liking to Elaine since she seems so interested in everything and her enthusiasm is everything the team needs.

Skye offers to teach her, and of course the gleeful girl couldn't contain her excitement and she bombarded Skye with lots of yes-es. She will begin to train every Thursday after school on the field, and there Skye will guide her to a proper Quidditch material so that by the time the audition takes place for new members she could join in and fulfill the requirements of being a Quidditch player easily.

Elaine is leaning over the chaser position as well, she does not think her arm is as built as a beater one, she's not sure she's as fast as a seeker, she's not even confident in preventing enemies to goal their quaffles, so she decided to stick with the chaser position which relies on team work, strategy, and quick thinking.

By the time their friendly match ends, the Gryffindor team came in the field to prepare for their upcoming match. "We'll be taking it from here now, Parkin." The captain of the Gryffindor team came up to the Quidditch stands, informing Skye that they needed to use the field now. "Sure Wood, I'll let them know." Red uniformed students went out with their brooms, flying over the hoops to start their practice.
