AN: Couldn't help but write this in the same day as the previous chapter, enjoy!

"Damn it, kid.." Shirou shook Michiru's unconscious body, her showing no signs of waking anytime soon. The tanuki's lips had become tinted with blue, her body soaked to the core.

He had managed to get her under an awning of a building near the docks. A few stragglers were staring in awe at the body of the crow, it's magenta blood pooling into the water as Shirou waited for people to take it away.

He gently tilted her head backwards, trying to get her to breathe naturally. Shirou shook her again, his ears perked. Her heartbeat had slowed, but not stopped.

"What's taking them so long!?" The police had their hands full at the moment, not having enough people to cover Shirou and the crow.

He sighed, he'd have to take her life in his own hands, again. He cupped her chin and kept her head tilted back, pinching her nose with his other hand. He sealed his lips over hers, giving her short breaths. After a few breaths, he pumped her chest, not caring whether it hurt or not.

With only a few pumps, her mouth fell open and she leaned over, coughing up water and heaving. Shirou fell back with relief, glad to see that she was still kicking. Michiru wiped her mouth with the back of her hand, her eyes fluttering.

"Are you alright?" Shirou wrapped an arm under her back to steady her.

"Huh? Shirou?" Michiru's eyes widened a bit, staring at him in surprise, "how did I get here?" She wracked her brain, trying to recollect what had happened.

All she could remember was being dragged to the depths with the crow before a bright white light surrounded her, lifting her back to the surface.

"You saved me again.." Guilt filled her tone and her eyes were downcast, she had tried to keep him from using his powers around other people. "I thought transforming made you tired?"

Shirou scratched the back of his neck, not wanting to tell her that she had been his first priority. He hadn't even considered how tired he had made himself. He kept a stone-faced expression as she gathered herself. A siren blaring down the street made him jump to his feet, ready to assist with getting the crows body to a safe place.

"Did anyone see you?" Michiru shakily got to her feet as well, clutching onto his torn shirt sleeve.

He shook his head, not as if he had really cared about that in the moment. Before he could walk away, Michiru grabbed onto his hand, lacing her fingers through his as he froze. Shirou looked away from her, not pulling his arm away.

"Ogami!" Investigator Tachiki jumped out of a police van, rushing towards the two under the awning.

He looked over at the crows body, which was being examined by the mayor's trusted cleanup crew. "Did you two do this?" He motioned at it, surprised by how fast they had pulled it off.

"Hmm, she did most of the work, I just finished it off." Shirou spoke honestly, a hint of pride in his voice. Michiru beamed then winced, the pain finally catching up to her after the adrenaline wore off. Shirou peered over at her when her hand let go of his.

"Augh!" She cried out, Shirou catching her before she could collapse to the floor.

"I need to get her to the medical center, I'll call you this evening." Shirou's face scrunched with worry and the investigator nodded, wanting to look at the crow before it got taken away.

"Can you make it?" Shirou asked as he ran with her in his arms, not wanting to risk hurting her by carrying her over his shoulder.

"Mhm.." She muttered, her head lolling to the side. The storm had let up for a few minutes, allowing them to stay somewhat dry. He shifted his hand from to balance her weight, noticing that his skin had been stained a light pink, she was hurt.

A growl escaped through his clenched teeth, he had destroyed the beast that hurt her but he couldn't help but feel responsible. She had only distracted it so he could safely transform, which almost got her killed. Tears threatened to run down his cheeks but he held them back, using the emotion to make himself go faster.

The medical center was open as always, doctors rushing down hallways and nurses carrying clipboards around. With the center taken over by a new head doctor hired by the mayor, service was much cheaper and easier for anyone to get.

A tall beastman in a lab coat ran over to Shirou, calling for an assistant to get a wheeled stretcher. He had seen the tanuki before for injuries and was used to the occasional visit.

"What happened now?" The doctor put a pair of spectacles on, already starting to examine the tanuki.

"Nirvasyl breakout with a crow beastman, she almost drowned too." Shirou put the event in simple terms, nerves making him shift his weight from foot to foot. A stretcher rounded the corner and Shirou reluctantly laid Michiru on it, walking along next to it as she was wheeled to a room.

"Any thoughts?" Shirou asked the doctor, who had written some notes down on a pad of paper.

"You can wait outside, I'll be sure to get someone to email you, Mr. Ogami." The doctor patted his shoulder, "no need to stay here."

The wolf muttered something under his breath, looking over at the tanuki before walking off towards the entrance. He couldn't help but feel protective over her, it was just in his nature by now. Especially since she could've died in his arms just a bit ago.

A pang of helplessness made him clench at her jacket he had been carrying. The storm had let up for the day at least, the sky turning orange and blue. He checked his watch, better get back to the co-op and call the investigator, at least it would keep his mind busy.
