We stopped climbing up the steps and I looked around the room. "Did this room just change?" Garry asked. "I think so." I muttered. We walked into the room and I saw something on the floor. I bent down and picked it up. "What is it?" Ib asked. "It's a stem. From that rose I gave Mary." I said and I looked over at Garry. He looked worried before he caught me looking at him. He quickly turned away and I looked at Ib. "There's nothing left." She said and I nodded. "It's ok, it wasn't real." I told her and she nodded at me. I dropped the stem and stood up. Ib took my hand again and I turned to see Garry staring at the thorn wall. I walked over and looked up at it. "Thoroughly blocked. Telling us not to go up, then? Got to get through somehow." Garry muttered as I turned to him. "Do you still have that lighter?" Ib asked and I looked over at her.

Garry reached into his pocket and pulled it out. "We should burn it." Ib said and Garry lit the thorns on fire. I took a step back, pulling Ib with me. The flames were high as the plant burned quickly. I shielded my eyes from the sudden light change. "Success!" Garry said and I dropped my arm. "It worked, Ib." Garry said as he turned to us. "Let's go." Ib said as she pulled me with her. We walked up the steps. "Hm? This room...This isn't the toy box....is it?" Garry asked and I turned to him. " I don't think so." I said. "More importantly, see that? The painting on the far wall. I think I've seen it before. Let's take a look." Garry said. We took a few steps only to hear footsteps coming up the stairs. "Who's there?" I heard as we turned to see Mary. "Ib, Garry? You're both ok?" Mary asked, before she saw me. "Violet, how are you- you shouldn't be here." She said and I stared at her. She shook her head for a moment.

"How did you get into this room? Leave." Mary said. "Mary- you-" Garry started. "Don't take another step." Mary said. "Wha-" "Leave, right now! Now! NOw! NOW!" She yelled as she pulled out a knife like thing. I stared at the knife like thing and swallowed. My heartbeat was the only thing I could hear. I raised my hand to my chest as I stared at Mary. She smiled at me before so took a step forward. "LeEeEEAVE!" She shouted. She started to run at us and things happened so fast and so slow at the same time. I tried to turn, but she was faster than I thought. I only took a step before something was in my hair and pulling me down. I was on my knees and something cold was touching my skin. She pulled my head back and I could see her from the corner of my eye.

"That's enough." Mary yelled and both Ib and Garry turned. "Don't take another step." Mary said and I stared at her. " I don't know how you're still here, but you are." She said to me and I didn't move. Mary pulled my hair and I screamed. "Now, if you two want her alive, step away from that painting." Mary said, but they didn't move. "Alright then." Mary said and pulled me back to look at the ceiling. I closed my eyes as I heard the knife move. "Wait!" I heard as something cold was lightly pressed to my neck. I felt something warm running down my face. I was crying. Mary turned to face them as she pulled me to them. I stared at Ib as she was against the wall, holding her hands to her chest. "Don't." Garry said, his hand still up in the air.

He took a step closer and Mary pressed the blade back to my throat. I raised my hands as my breathing became faster. "Don't take another step." Mary said and Garry raised his hands. "Just don't do it, Mary." Garry said and I stared at him. "She lied to me. She should be dead. I should be taking her place." Mary said as she pulled my head back again. I gasped. "Take my place instead." Garry said. "No, Garry." I said. "I'm not falling for that again." Mary said. Garry pulled out his rose and held it close. "No." Garry said, before he pulled a petal off his own rose. He groaned as he dropped it to the ground. "Stop it." I said. "You would do that? For her?" Mary asked and Garry held out his rose. Mary pulled my head back, before throwing me to the ground. I hit my head, but watched them.

Mary ran at Garry and Garry tossed his rose to Ib. Ib caught it and held something out. I heard Garry grunt and I looked over at him as he held Mary back. Her blade in Garry's hands as she tried to stab him. He was fighting her and she was getting closer to him. I tried to move, but I couldn't. I smelt smoke and Mary dropped her blade. She took a step back as she brought her hands to her face. "NOOOOO!" I heard Mary yell before she was on fire. She turned around, her face etched in horror. She took a step forward and reached out to me. She tried to take another step, but fell to the ground, before she turned to ash. I stopped fighting my body and my eyes closed.
