Another punching bag flew across the room. Steve had been doing this all day, because he could and because he hoped it would get some of the guilt off his chest.
Steve had almost killed his friend. He kept telling himself that it was to defend Bucky, but Steve could have just knocked Tony out and left. But instead, Steve had stabbed Tony in his Arc Reacter with the strongest metal in the world. If Steve had just knocked Tony out, Steve would have also still had his shield.
Yes, Tony was trying to kill Bucky, but Tony had a reason to be angry. Who wouldn't be angry if they found out who murdered their parents and their best friend kept it a sectret from them?
It wasn't Bucky's fault though, it was HYDRA's. And Tony had signed the accords, which made it so he would have to hunt down and kill Bucky. And that was before he knew that the Winter Soldier had murdered his parents.
And Cap also felt guilty about Rhodey. Rhodey was just trying to be loyal to his best friend, but he ended up with barely functional legs. Sure, Cap wasn't the one to make the shot that had knocked War Machine out of the air, Vision did. The shot was aimed at Falcon, but he doged it and in turn it hit Rhodey.
Steve was already gone, but it was partly his fault that it even happened. And Steve knew that. But Cap was still angry. Really angry. At everyone, everything. He was sorry, that's why he gave Tony the phone. But Steve knew that 'sorry' wouldn't cut it. And Steve also knew that it would take a lot for Tony to forgive him anyways.
Bucky was still in Wakanda, but Steve had gone back to Brooklyn. He just needed to feel at home, somehow.
Steve picked up another punching bag and hung it up. Memories flooded his mind with every punch he threw at the bag.
Usually the memories would be of the war, of the ice. But now it was of his fight with Tony. How Steve had let his own anger drive him. Just like Tony had.
Once again, the bag flew.
Steve was about to grab another one, when he heard faint footsteps outside the room
Carefully and quietly, Steve tip-toed to the door and gently pushed it open.
Suddenly a blunt force hit the back of Steve's head.
Apparently, the dude behind Cap thought that that would knock the super-soldier out. Because he gained a big look of surprise when Steve simply turned around and glared.
Steve threw a punch at the dude's head, which effectively knocked him out.
Almost immediately, a cloth was againsts Cap's nose and mouth. Steve kicked the person behind him, causing them to grunt and drop the rag.
Steve turned around, only to be met by a fist to the mouth. Steve threw his one punch, but the guy doged it and kicked steve in the jaw.
Cap got caught off guard and barely notice another guy down the hall. Steve turned back to his assailant, but felt a stinging sensation in his arm.
Steve looked down to see a red feathered dart sticking out of his forearm.
Looking up, Steve saw the person who was standing in the hallway holding a blow dart gun.
Then Steve collapsed on the ground, unconscious.
The guard who had originally attacked Steve, woke up rubbing his head.
A voice crackled on his walky-talky.
"Is the soldier apprehended?"
"Yes sir." The guard replied.
"Good, bring him in."
"Roger that. Hail HYDRA!"
All the other guards in the room saluted too.
