I woke up the next morning and to my surprise, I was on an island. I looked around for the others. Jake was cooking something over a fire and Savannah was washing her face. The doctor was nibbling on a piece of bread, trying to save as much as he could. But I didn't see the other woman that was on the boat the other day.
I crawled over to where Jake and Savannah were.
"Hey! Your awake!" Jake exclaimed.
I was a little confused. Is it that late?
"You have been unconscious for 3 days." Savannah said.
"THREE DAYS?!" I exclaimed.
"Yeah you were just out of it. If we didn't find you at the time we did you would have been taken away with the current." Jake said.
"Well thank you guys for this I appreciate it. You guys saved my life. You guys are the best!" I said meaning every word.
"Aww your welcome!" Savannah said.
"Yeah anytime." Jake said.
I smiled at both of them.
"Well we better start building some shelter for tonight. I want to be able to finish it by sunset so that we have a place to sleep" Jake said.
The doctor and Jake stayed at the beach, while Savannah and I went to the woods to collect wood and other things that we could use.
"Whatever happened to the life boat?" I asked Savannah.
"It was ripped apart when it hit a sharp rock." Savannah said while picking up a few logs.
We were looking for logs that were strong, but light. It was rare, but we found a few. As we walked along I found a few materials that would float. We could use those to build another boat.
After collecting a few more things, we returned to the beach where Jake and the doctor were. We drew a blueprint in the sand of how we would build the cottage, or, shelter. It took a while but we finally finished enough to get us through the night.
The night was cold and very uncomfortable laying on the sharp shells and rocks. There were no blankets, but we did have some extra clothing to use as blankets.
It was early the next morning and I was the only one awake. I walked out from under the small shelter and walked around thinking. I sat down on one of the extra logs while the coming in tide washed over my feet. I began to think about my family again. My brothers, my mom, and my dad. I missed them so much. I just wished I could go home already. A tear came to my eye and ran down my face as I watched the beautiful sunrise take place. Jake saw me and sat next to me.
"Are you ok?"
Then I just lost it. I started to cry harder. I wiped my eyes.
"I-I was thinking about my f-family." I tried to talk, but I couldn't stop crying.
"I'm so sorry. I miss my family too." Jake said sadly.
"What's your family like?" I asked him.
"I have three sisters, one brother, and my dad." he answered back.
"Wait....what about your mom?" I questioned him.
He didn't say anything.
"Wait she's....."
"Yeah." he said quietly.
"I'm so sorry I just made it worst for you." I said. I felt very bad.
"Oh no your ok."
It was silent for a few minutes. Savannah woke up then we started working on the shelter. Savannah and I took a walk on the beach. Just two good friends. I spotted something off in the distance.
"OH MY GOODNESS!"
