O, to have one, not many
Means much more to me
Than to have barrels and tons
Which would stress me greatly
O, to have one, not many
Would warm my soul
More than wagon full
And mines of gold
O, to have many, not one
Would be rather exhausting
I'd turn less grateful
In the years to come by
And expect more
When occasions are nigh
O, to have one, not many
A spouse to cherish
Would mean more to me
Than a thousand at once
I'd rather devote my life
To one, and one only
To love and behold
To live with, and be bold
O, to have one, not many
A God of heaven
I'd rather my soul to Him
Than the thousand of false gods
That dwell among
The countries so grim
O, if some would just realize
You don't need many things
To get through this life
For all of our treasures
Are up in heaven
