When Delilah awoke in the hospital wing later that evening, she saw that the area around her bed was all filled up. Sirius and James were slumped against each other in the seats by her bed. Remus was curled into a ball by her feet and Peter was laying on the ground next to her. She smiled, sometimes she worried the Marauders were really her brothers friends and she was just his annoying little sister. But here all the boys slept peacefully next to the unofficial fifth Marauder. Sirius woke up when his head lolled to far forward and he nearly fell out of his chair.
"Good morning sleeping beauty." Delilah whispered at the disheveled boy.
"I should be saying that to you. How're you feeling?"
He got up and took a seat next to her in bed.
"Sore but I'll live. It's not as bad as when James got hit in the head with a bludger in third year."
The two chuckled at the memory.
"He nursed that wound for quite sometime didn't he?"
"Delilah can you do my homework my head hurts?"
Delilah said mocking her brother.
"Sirius I would do my part in the group project but-oh my head!"
Sirius said imitating the older Potter.
The two giggled quietly between themselves.
Delilah stopped and stared at the dark haired boy. She had almost forgotten he had been the one to carry her back to the castle. Her heart sped up at the memory of his intoxicating scent and hard chest against her cheek.
"Thanks for carrying me back."
She said lightly punching Sirius's shoulder.
"I'll always be there to sweep you off your feet, love."
He said smirking.
Delilah quickly turned her face away from him to hide the blush that was creeping up.
Sirius laughed and leaned over to look at her.
"Don't try to hide it Potter, I saw you blushing!"
He poked her cheek.
"Merlin, how are you still so much better at this than I am?"
She grumbled.
"Practice, love. But I wouldn't want you to be good at it. Your aura of innocence is what makes you so appealing."
He said cheekily.
"So if I went out and snogged someone then you'd be uninterested?"
"No, but I'd probably kill him. I intend on taking your first kiss baby Potter."
Delilah blanched, unable to form a coherent sentence at Sirius's bold statement. She had thought his antics only extended as far as making her flustered. She didn't think he thought about her as more than James's' little sister. Truth be told most of the time she was terrified she would always live in his shadow. And when people called her Baby Potter it made her feel horribly irrelevant. Like she wasn't even important enough for them to remember her first name. Of course Sirius probably hadn't thought about her now as anything more than a warm body. Irritation was creeping in as Sirius stared seductively at her.
"So why don't you?" She asked innocently leaning in closer.
"Why don't I what?"
"Kiss me."
Sirius eyes were the size of saucers and his face turned so red it matched Fabian and Gideon Prewett's hair.
"Now whose blushing, Black?"
Delilah said with a laugh and Sirius stared at the girl with a mixture of confusion and adoration. No girl had ever intrigued him so. Ever since his mom had had the talk with him about not sleeping around as to uphold reputation and only being with pure bloods, Sirius had done everything in his power to disobey. And he was also a stupid teenage boy who knew nothing more than lust. Except when he looked at Delilah. At first he had only seen her as a sister, till she had sprouted breast that was then his attraction had been purely physical. Nothing that couldn't be quenched for the sake of his friendships though, James and Remus would never forgive him if he used Delilah like that. Then he had seen her stand up for Gideon Prewett in third year. Some Slytherin twat was tormenting him for his hand me down robes and he had seen Delilah's fire. She had become unhinged, any hint of meekness he had thought was in her had completely disappeared as she had berated the snake into wishing he could slither away on his belly. Then Sirius felt something deeper than attraction, but he still hadn't pinpointed that feeling. And until he did, he would never touch the girl. But she didn't have to know that.
He was snapped out of his thoughts to the sound snoring. Delilah's head had dropped into his shoulder and her breathing was a melodic deep rhythm. He couldn't help the goofy grin he wore now as the bludger beaten girl used him as a pillow. The next morning Delilah woke to a chorus of 'aaaawwwwss' she snapped her head up to see her brother, Remus, and Peter all staring at her and wiggling their eyebrows.
"What are you blokes staring at?"
"Just my sister cozied up to my best mate."
James said with a teasing grin.
"I-we-were just- talking I must've fell asleep."
"Delilah and Padfoot sitting in a tree! K-I-S-S-I-N-G, first comes love, then comes mar-
James was abruptly cut off to Delilah throwing her shoe at his head.
"Ow what the hell!"
James exclaimed.
"Serves you right, you bloody tosser."
At this point Sirius had woken up and was staring bemused at the Potter siblings. He was envious of their relationship, wishing he and his brother could be that close.
"Oi, who are the flowers from Prongs?"
Sirius asked pointing to the assortment of Delilahs that were on the bedside table.
"Laurence Lestrange."
Remus said giving Delilah a knowing smile.
She blushed and leaned over to smell them. Completely missing the boy next to her go tense.
