OUT OF STORY;
This chapter is a week after Leila's last appointment with Ollie & Brooke.
The school bell goes. Lunch is over. I head towards the athletics track with Emily, my best friend, as our next period is PE. I turn to Emily "I wonder what we are doing today." Emily looks at me and shrugs her shoulders "I have no idea, knowing Mrs Smith she'll make us run 10 laps of the track." I roll my eyes and sit on the grass along with our class.
Mrs Smith approaches us "Good morning students! Today we will be warming our muscles up by running 8 laps of the track! Get your phones out as I'd like you all to time yourselves." Emily and I look at each other "8 laps!?" I whine. "At least it's better than 10" Emily admits. We both groan and get up.
I look to my left and notice Charlotte Taylor, little miss i'm so popular, warming up. She looks at me, making eye contact. I gulp "oh no..." I say as I notice that she has already started walking towards Emily and I. I nudge Emily and whisper "Em... look who's coming towards us." Emily looks over and grabs my wrist "Come on lets go" but just as she does Charlotte shouts "Careful Leila! You won't want to waste your energy and faint in front of everyone whilst you are running!" She laughs and jogs past us. Emily glares at her "What a bit- " I interrupt her "Save your breath Em, she's not worth it."
**ON THE TRACK**
I was running alongside Emily when all of a sudden I started to get tired. "Wait up!" I call after her, she stops and turns around to face me "You alright?" I put my hand on my chest and take deep breathes "Yeah i'm fine. We've been running for so long now, I just need to walk for a bit." Emily nods and walks alongside me.
All of a sudden we hear "Move out of the way!" and before I know it i'm on the ground. Charlotte had pushed me over as she sprinted past. I groan in pain and spit out some blood. "Lei!" Emily calls and runs over to me. She notices the blood "That looks bad...let's get you to the school nurse." I simply nod as she helps me up.
**THE NURSES OFFICE**
I sit on the edge of the emergency bed with an ice pack on my jaw. The nurse walks in and gives me a sympathetic smile "Your brother has been called and he's on his way to pick you up, okay sweetheart?" I nod and quietly thank her. She smiles and leaves.
A few moments later, Ollie walks in and looks straight at my mouth "Oh dear Lei....what have you done?" I tear up "It wasn't my fault, this girl pushed me and I fell" I can't help but let out a few tears as it hurts to speak. Ollie gently wipes my tears with his thumbs "Shh princess, i'm not blaming you" he says with a gentle smile. I return a small smile. He picks me up bridal style "Lets get you to the clinic so I can take a proper look at the damage." I rest my head against his shoulder as he carries me to the car.
**AT THE CLINIC**
Ollie carries me downstairs to the exam rooms. He walks into his exam room and sits me in the chair. Brooke turns to look at Ollie "What happened?" Ollie pinches the bridge of his nose and lets out a deep sigh "Long story...I'm going to need your help and I'm going to page Alana." I gulp, I know things are bad when Alana is involved. Alana is the paediatric dentist here and she is only ever asked to help assist with teenagers when the patient needs to be kept distracted. Brooke nods at Ollie's comment and grabs some gloves and a mask. She applies them and sits on a stool. Before I know it i'm being laid back.
Once I am parallel to the floor, Ollie sits on his stool and snaps on his gloves then applies his mask. He turns on the over head light and positions it to my mouth. He picks up his mirror "Okay baby girl, open as wide as you can." I open a little, struggling because i'm in a lot of pain. "That's perfect sweetheart." I feel him insert his mirror and the coldness of the metal against my cheeks as he retracts them to inspect the damage.
