Brother's Grim

Victor had been on the road for a couple of hours, until he reached a bunch of colorful lights on tons of buildings. He looked around and had realized that he was in a new town!

"I guess maybe Huitzi's hug gave me luck after all", He grinned.

He looked around the city, relieved that he could get proper food and shelter there. Not to mention a career as one building caught his eye.

Meanwhile in Monte Macabre, morning had come and Valentino and Isabella were awoken by the heat. They removed the blanket and headed downstairs for breakfast.

The couple was enjoying a nice churro dish when Charlene came in crying. She had heard the news of what might have happened to Victor and was slipping into a depression.

"Oh my poor Victor!" She sobbed, "Why could it have been someone else?!"

She face planted into a pillow sobbing loudly, when Huitzi grabbed the note from the door and flew to the trio. Valentino was given the note. Charlene looked at the note with tears in her eyes. Val read the note:

                  Dear step brother Val,

I am happy that you're okay, but I realize now that you have Isabella, I am no longer needed here.
I was given a purpose to be there for you and now that you discussed me in a snobby Brit manner, I'm now going solo on my way to a bright future for myself.
Enjoy your happily ever after step brother.

                        Sincerely,
                   Victor Calavera

Valentino dropped the note in shock. His brother was alive, but gone from the town. Charlene beamed over the revelation that her crush was okay, but Isabella was in despair.

"What have we done?!" She gasped.

"I-I totally forgot about poor Victor!" Valentino exclaimed, "Perhaps it was this bump in my head".

"Wherever he is", Said Charlene, "I hope he's still around this town somewhere".

The trio walked outside, where Chata was with Achi. She was saddened by Victor running away and they too hoped that he'll be okay by himself. The rest of the townsfolk had lost their happiness and everyone slipped into the grayness of boredom.

"This town is never going to be the same without Victor around", Sighed Guillermo.

"Definitely", Achi replied, "That amigo's mischief gave us a good laugh sometimes. And he also took his mask with him".

He was referring to the mask that can make people see the undead.

Just then, Huitzi flew by Chata and chirped to tell her something. He told her about last night's event.
Achi had to translate what the bird said to Chata,

"So Huitzi is saying that he tried to stop Victor from running away, but Victor still did so and is looking for a new life elsewhere. All because you two were unaware that he was still alive".

"And I forgot about what dad said to him when we first met", Valentino sighed sadly.

Huitzi corrected him, but Chata translated it this time,

"What your step papa said to Victor was a promise to keep you safe and your mother wished that you two could get along".

Val felt guilt like no other. His brother saved him and Isabella from danger and his hobbies drove him away from his arms.

"This is all my fault!" He exclaimed, bursting into tears, "If I haven't been so foolish, he would've still been here!"

"No! It's my fault!" Isabella argued, also in a fit of crying, "If I have been more careful in those ruins, he wouldn't have been crushed, I would've never been evicted from my home by my aunt, and he would've never left you!"

The couple hugged as their tears began to collide and flood the spot they were on. After fifteen seconds, Achi had to stop it.

"Okay! Okay! We'll try to find him!" He assured, "It just takes a while for the magic to do it's part".

Just then, an image popped up through a fog. And that image was of a city with lights at night and various activities. And next to the image was Victor's face on a missing poster. Valentino and Isabella stopped crying and looked.

"That city?!" Val gasped. "It looks like the Underworld, but it's full of alive people".

"Is that where Victor ran off to?" Asked Isabella.

Huitzi chirped a "yes".

"Then he's probably out there... alone", Charlene said darkly, "I hope that he doesn't get caught by anyone".

"And that's where we'll look for him", Achi finished.

Valentino gulped, knowing that it would not be easy to get his brother back. But he was confident in going to a new place to find him.
Charlene was very eager to go there, just so Victor can love her.

"Then it's settled", Said Val, "We're going there and getting Vic back".

Everyone agreed to go, except Chata who declined the offer. But she did wish the rest good luck.

Achi set up a ghostly handcar to get to the neighboring city. With a bunch of missing and have you seen me posters in tow, the journey to Victor began.
