Earth.

Blood.

Darkness.

Rock.

They were all I could taste and see.

Earth fluttered at my eye. Blood flowed through my mouth, its sickly sweet taste was no longer a stranger to me. Darkness surrounded me. Trapped in by black rock. And glittering eyes staring into me.

"You will live, girl." The rumble of the White Wolf roared in my ears. He stood before me, eyes locked on my limp, twisted, crumpled body.

Where am I? The Dark Forest? Am I a prisoner? I have to escape. I must escape.

A rattled gasp filled my lungs. Blinding pain thundered through my head. The pain in my arm screamed as I tried to lift myself.

"Stay down. You injure only yourself."

I must escape. I must escape.

"No. I must stand. I must—"

His massive body connected with mine, slamming me into the rock. The wolf stood over me, all fours planted, its maw fractions from my face.

The wolf bellowed in my face. I stretched my neck to his mouth. Kill me, if you must. Please, end my suffering.

"YOU-ARE-MINE! YOU WILL OBEY ME. OR YOU WILL DIE."

A shattering roar filled my ears before I sank into the blackness.
