"Beautiful, what's in this room." Valentino rested his hand on the doorknob, at the very end of my hall, twisting.

"Don't open that door." My tone was more somber than I intended. They all turned to me, frowning and glancing at the door. I waved my hand, grinning. "I'll have to kill you if you do."

Valentino pouts. "Aw, you can't say that and expect me not to be curious."

Alistar teleported next to Valentino, testing the boundaries. They've been more open this past week with exploring my house, not that I minded, but there was one room off limits—the one they're all trying to get into.

I reached behind the TV, grabbing my pistol and flicking the safety off. When Alistar's hand turned the knob, I fired. The bullet embedding into the door frame within an inch from his head. Alistar didn't flinch, but let go of the door instead.

That was their only warning shot.

Malachi jumped, even though he was nowhere near the bullet. "Fuck, I didn't think you were serious. What the hell do you even have hiding in that room?"

"That's none of your concern." I set the pistol on the coffee table next to Brynjar, as a reminder for everyone.

"Do you have a bunch of kinky toys in there?" Valentino walked to my side, squishing my cheeks. "You don't have to be embarrassed if you do."

"No, there aren't any sex toys in there," I mumbled through fish lips.

"What's in the room, then?" Alistar sat on the couch.

I pulled Valentino's hand away. "An unlimited supply of fae ale and wines in case my stock downstairs sells out."

He drops to the couch, sighing. "Liar."

I raised my brows. "You're a lie detector too?"

"I'm a lot of things—smart, handsome, a lie detector, sex god." He continued spouting self-compliments.

What I would give to have their abilities. I looked to Malachi pointing at Valentino. As if sensing my need for him, Malachi looked up from his book. He frowned at Valentino, shaking his head and mouthing no.

Unfortunate.

"I told you, you can look anywhere in my home but that room." I dropped between Alistar and Valentino.

Malachi set his book aside. "Now I want to know what's in there."

"No, I'll gouge your eyes out if I have to." I kicked my feet into Valentino's lap, leaning on Alistar and watching whatever show Brynjar put on.

Brynjar looked up from his paperwork with a sigh. "No one is gouging anyone's eyes out and no one is going in that room."

Every time they finished a job, he had to file out a report. I'd blow my own brains out with all the stacks of paper I'd have if I had to file a report for every person I killed. Killing illegally was easier, all that was required was not getting caught.

"Aw, why not?" I whined.

Valentino massaged my feet. "It's too messy. Imagine all the blood you'll have to clean up."

I wasn't afraid of a little blood. "Who said I'd clean it up?" I sunk down further until my head was in Alistar's lap. "Will you clean up my mess for me?"

Alistar ran his fingers through my hair. "Will I get to keep my eyes?"

"Yes." I couldn't gouge the eyes out from my trusty body disposer.

"And my life?" The edge of his lip curled.

He could live, for now. "Up until the day you prove a nuisance."
