"What was up with you yesterday?" I shrug.
Me and Billie were walking on the sand of the beach, the breeze blowing through our hair as we walked.
"I'm sorry if I offended you with my question. I just didn't expect you to y'know.." She fell silent.
"I don't really wanna talk about it."
She stops and turns towards the water. "I'm actually afraid of the ocean." Changing the subject.
I stand beside her looking at where the sun meets the horizon. "Why?"
"You don't know what's in that shit man. Like there could be some murderous unknown ass creature down there and we don't even know it exists." She steps away from the crashing waves, fidgeting with the many rings on her finger.
"You can't let your fear hold you back. That's just a missed opportunity, and besides this is a 'not dream' we're fine." I walk slowly into the ocean letting the water splash onto my body. Bathing under the setting sun.
I lean back and relax slowly feeling myself float and drift above the water. "Come on, you don't even have to come in this far. Do what feels comfortable."

Billie's POV
I watched the tan girl float across the surface.
She looked at peace and ethereal. Like nothing could hurt her.
She made me want to overcome my fear.
Slowly, walking upon the crashing water, I creep into the ocean making sure no sharks were coming for me. I meet her where the water stops just at above my waist.
"See it's not that bad." She smiles up at the sky. The setting sun left a glow on her skin leaving her melanin skin looking dewy and more vibrant than usual. I couldn't help but to caress her plump cheek, it looked very touchable at the moment.
She closed her eyes and hummed, she was really at ease.
She stopped floating to stand next to me. "So, tell me about yourself Billie."
"I hate talking about myself, you will learn more over time I promise." I grab her hand feeling nervous of being so deep in the water. I've never been so far from the shore before.
I bite my lip checking my surroundings again. I feel anxious, I don't want to do this anymore.
"Hey.. hey look at me." Elyse lays her hand on my cheek forcing me to hold eye contact with her.
"Calm down B, everything is okay. We're okay it's fine. Just relax baby." Hearing baby came out of her mouth was something that I wanted to hear everyday, but having it directed at me felt amazing. I gave the girl a closed lip smile and shook my jitters away, being happy in the moment with her.
Our other hands were still intertwined I swung them back and forth a bit feeling my body fill with happiness, and complete bliss.
She makes me want to overcome all of my fears.
