This oneshot takes place maybe two years after Found, and everyone still lives in the fortress together because-

I think I've already said that reason...

Whatever XD

By the way, this is NOT WHAT YOU ARE EXPECTING-

~

No matter how many years Falte spent preparing himself for a day like this, he was not ready when it came.

Everyone had enjoyed breakfast downstairs in the newly built cafeteria that some of the former Darks helped make, sitting around a few of the tables they'd pulled together. Even Cynthia and a few other friends of hers - David, Alex, and Olivia - were gathered around the tables, smiling and laughing at things being said.

Falte discovered not long before that Cynthia was almost like another version of Linda - dry, sarcastic, but all the while very sweet and caring. When she and Linda had gotten to know each other, they had made fast friends and occasionally talked together about different varieties of things.

The two sat across from each other, both listening intently at a story that Moon was telling from she and Ruby's childhood. Falte had caught bits and snippets and realized that she was telling a story of when the two had gotten lost in the woods. Ruby was listening with a soft smile, but her eyes said that she remembered that with regretful fright.

Kai was sitting next to Abby, who was politely listening along to the story while nibbling on a piece of bread with jelly on it. Kai had already finished his food - a simple ham sandwich - and was propping his chin on his hands with his elbows on the table.

Normally, Falte would have gotten on to him about his manners, but he was suddenly pulled away from that concern when Moon shouted out dramatically, "We came across a mother bear!"

"What?" Falte spluttered with genuine concern, even though the story she was telling was in the past.

Moon gave him a wide grin that showed off her unnaturally pointed teeth, her white eyes gleaming with the thrill of the story. "I'm not joking," she said, waving one hand to express her seriousness. "Ruby, tell him!"

Ruby chuckled slightly, shifting slightly in her seat. "It's true. Trust me, I've never been more terrified since. Well..." she corrected herself, but didn't elaborate on what had scared her more since then.

Moon's smile widened, and she continued her story with even more dramatic flare. "Ruby and I came across the cubs first, which was probably the most terrifying part - because I knew what was coming next. With a loud roar, the mother burst out of the brush behind us!" She slammed her hands onto the table for effect, and Kai nearly shot out of his seat.

While Abby tried to contain her giggles at Kai's bewildered expression, Moon hastily continued her tale. "She ran straight at us, giving us barely any time to run. If I remember right, I had to carry Ruby for a while because she hurt her foot. I have never run faster in my entire life!" she laughed, leaning back in her chair with a wide grin.

Ruby nodded her head at Moon's statement on her foot. "I tripped on that huge root, remember? We're not sure what I did to my foot even to this day, but it's always been easily sprained since then."

Ezekiel, who had recently gotten together with Ruby (though they were both very awkward about it, which amused Falte to some degree), cast Moon's younger sister a concerned glance that obviously said "I didn't know that, why didn't you tell me?".

Shintaro, who had been quietly listening the whole time, set down his glass of water with a cocked eyebrow. "You two seemed to go on a lot of adventures when you were little," he mused.
