frube:
a surfer who does not manage to catch a wave for the entire time they're in the water.

It was the day after Dawson had gotten me back into the water for the first time in years and I was begging him to help me get back up on a board the moment we left the water.

Dawson came and picked me up shortly after my mother left for work to avoid her interrogation. He decided that we were to be heading out to a small bay near the surf shack Dawson works at.

We were driving in silence. The only noise was that of the radio. The ocean breeze was coming in through the window blowing my hair all over the place.

"Is it alright if I stop at the shop for a few minutes? I just have to grab a few things before we head out." Dawson asks breaking the silence.

I mutter out a quick "Okay". My eyes were drawn out to the ocean. There was quite a wind today so the waves were quite tall. A yellow flag was blowing the warning people of the current conditions.

Dawson parked the car in front of the surf shack as we both got out and made our way inside. He held the door open, allowing for me to go first.

"Hey Dawson!" an older man says from behind the desk as he stands up and approaches the two of us. "Who's this special lady?"

I was stuck frozen in my spot unable to move or speak. Dawson's hand found its was to the small of my back. "This is Ainsley."

"The names Rob. I've heard so much about you Ainsley." He says with a large smile on his face.

"It's nice to meet you." I respond as my cheeks turn a light shade of pink at his words. "I hope you've been told good things."

"Oh have I ever. This boy here doesn't seem to ever stop talking about you." He says giving Dawson a friendly slap on the back as Dawson shoots daggers at him with his gaze.

"Is it ready?" Dawson asks trying to change the subject as it was clear he was embarrassed.

"Of course it is. Let me just go grab it from the back." Rob says disappearing behind a wooden door.

My eyes wander around the shop looking for the surfboard with the beautiful teal blue colour and intricate floral design. The board was beautiful so it was really no surprise that someone must have bought it.

"Dawson." I murmur as he turns to face me. "Where is the boa-."

I am interrupted mid sentence by Rob who comes back into the main area of the shop with the surfboard in hand. My gaze shifts from the board over to Dawson who is staring at me with a large smile on his face.
