Trapped

LIGHTS POV:      (Ryuzaki is also L, he goes by both names).

"Get rid of it!"

Ryuk stared intently at me for several moments. Then, without another word, he jumped up out of his settled position in the corner with a smile. He gave me one last long look, then he disappeared into thin air, just as if he was never there. 

My last few thoughts of the death note where running rampant through my head.

"What if this all goes wrong and I have no memory of it?" I thought to myself. "No, this is a perfect plan. Not even L or any of the task force will look past this. This will work. Once I manage to get my note back and finally kill L, I will be the God of a new world. I will be the law."

As I started to smile, thinking of the new world I would create, everything suddenly went blank.

"What? Where am I?" I said aloud. 

As memories came back to me, I suddenly started to feel panicked. 

"Ryuzaki, you have to let me go! I'm NOT Kira! Please!"  I said panting. "Please, I know  I told you to put me in here but I realized that sitting here doing nothing is meaningless because i'm not Kira!"

My mind raced at the idea that I was suspected for being Kira. Yes, I had somewhat of the same viewpoints as Kira, but I could never kill anyone. I am here to stop the bad guys and bring them to justice. I don't want to kill anyone. Kira is evil and I wouldn't ever want to be like them. 

"And what's to say you are Kira?" Ryuzaki asked from the loud speaker above my cell. "Ever since we put you in here, all the killings have stopped. I may have suspected that you were Kira before, but now I am almost 100% sure that you are, in fact, Kira."

With that, Ryuzaki switched off the loudspeaker. Although I was quite upset at the fact that he dismissed anything that I said to my defense, I was slightly relieved to hear his voice again. After all this time spent in this grey, dimly lit cell, it was comforting to hear his voice. I trusted L with my life and I have faith that he would do the right thing if a situation arises.

"I will be releasing you from your cell momentarily. I will send Watari down to collect you. I would like to speak to you in private" Said Ryuzaki from the loudspeaker.

I lifted myself heavily off of my small cot in the corner of my tiny cell. Although I tried to get a decent sleep for the past weeks, I haven't been able to sleep for more than an hour at a time. With each passing second, my anxiety grew intolerable with the thoughts of whether or not I could have subconsciously been Kira for a short time. It all made no sense in my head. Being under suspicion and not being able to talk to anyone for a long period of time has made my head spin with thoughts that could drive a man insane. 

As I saw Watari come down the hall with a set of keys in his hand, I thought to myself, "What if he is releasing me only to tell me that I am actually Kira? No, that can't be true. I have been sitting here all this time, constantly being monitored by a camera. How could I have killed in this state?"

Watari greeted me in a monotone voice with a small smile. As his keys jingled while unlocking the steel doors, I took a sharp breath in, preparing for the worst to come.

As we walked up to where Ryuzaki was sitting, my face was expressionless but my head was full of thoughts that almost seemed to cloud up my vision. As I saw him look up at me with his big dark eyes, my thoughts only seemed to get worse. He motioned for me to sit down across from him at the small wooden table he had set out.

 The table had two monitors on it. One contained a video footage of Misa Amane and the other contained Sakura TV. As I looked at poor Misa Amane, I could feel Ryuzaki's sharp gaze pointing directly at me across the table from where I sat. As I looked over, he was still staring at me. I stared back at him for a short time before he spoke in his always monotone voice. 

"You look pale, Light. Would you like some ice cream?"
