Chapter 47

David walked around the halls of the department, checking in on everyone. He spotted Jeremy on his desk and approached him.

"Agent Jordan," David said, making Jeremy look at him. "I want you to look deep inside Blake Jenner's case and find out if he has any allies. We need to get rid of all these people once and for all."

"Yes, sir!"

David started to move away from Jeremy and spotted Katie walking. He nodded his head and approached her.

"Good to see that you're still here, Agent McGrath." David greeted her.

"I'll be going back to our station after this week," Katie replied and sighed. "It's good to be here for a while and see how amazing a secret department operates. Hope I could go back here and work with you guys some other time again."

"I hope so, too." David nodded and smiled.

"Anyway, how is Melissa? Is she recovering now?"

"I hope so. Last time I talked to Chris, they were leaving LA to go to Ohio, if I'm not mistaken. I hope she recovers soon."

Chyler arrived and joined David and Katie who are still talking.

"Hey guys," Chyler greeted them. "Have you heard anything from Melissa and Chris?"

David sighed. "They left few days ago, that's all I know. She's recovering."

"Is she in Colorado? Or her mom's home here in LA?" Chyler shook her head. "I just... I wanna know how she's doing."

David gave her a pat on the shoulder. "She is fine. Chris is with her and I know that he will do his best to help her. They are somewhere in Ohio. I instructed Chris to bring her to hospital if something happens even if Melissa refuses."

"Thank you," Chyler mouthed.

Chris wants to bring Melissa outside but he is not sure if she is ready. He received a call from David and Chyler, asking about Melissa earlier.

After a few minutes, he have decided that he will take Melissa with him outside but they won't go outside the car if Melissa is not yet ready to see other people or doesn't feel safe about the idea of possibly mingling with other people.

It's already lunch and his plan is to go out after they eat their lunch. After eating, he approached Melissa and asked her.

"Hey, would it be fine if we go out for a while? You know... just unwind and all. It's okay if we won't go out of the car. Let's just.. relax." Chris said. "I don't want you to just be inside the house for the whole time we're here and read books. Maybe we could go out?"

Melissa slowly nodded, thinking that going out may avoid her mind from thinking about the past. She wants to recover, she just wants to be the Melissa she was before

"Great! Just.. get ready and I'll prep the car right away."

They both readied themselves and Chris prepared the car. Chris came back inside and assisted Melissa in walking in the car.

Melissa looked at the window the whole car ride, focusing her mind on the different things she sees and trying to block the memories and images that always keeps coming and haunting her. Chris would glance at her whenever she fiddles and moves in her seat as if she's stressed, praying that she won't see or hear or feel something that may trigger her.

"You okay?" Chris asked while his eyes were on the road.

Melissa nodded even though she knows that he won't be able to see it.
