Chapter 8: Awakening

"How do you feel now, dear?" Lady Tomoya said as her hand glowed golden onto Unmei's scar. "I feel fine." He replied as she stopped her healing. "Perhaps you should try drinking buddha stones; the only issue is you'll feel sleepy, so drink it when you are going to bed, okay?" Lady Tomoya said. "Yeah," Unmei said; Lady Tomoya gave him a tablet that looked like charcoal. "It's bitter, but it works. So next time you feel pain from your scar, drink this, and you'll be fine. Just one, okay?" Lady Tomoya said as Unmei nodded. "Thank you, Lady Tomoya." Cedric bowed as she smiled. "Thank you for letting me help! I'll see you guys at dinner." Lady Tomoya waved and left the room as Cedric took out his cigar and started to smoke. "How classy," Unmei murmured under his breath. "Well, this is my habit." Cedric walked up to the window and opened it to let the smoke out. "What's up with you and that guy," Cedric said as he puffed out a cloud of smoke. "Oh him? We don't know each other." Unmei said. "You both knew each other name, and that fang you got back at home seems to belong to him." Cedric had his eyebrow raised. Unmei sighed slightly, "My younger half brother." Unmei answered as Cedric turned surprised. "But he is..." Cedric stopped for a moment, "Yes, he's a demon, and Raelan, the only one in my family who is. My half-sister isn't. She's a priestess." Unmei replied as he stood up from the bed. "Talk about complete opposites." Cedric chuckled. "He looks like my father, my sister Miho and I look like my mom."Unmei drinks the budda stone as Cedric kept smoking. "He always is this way. Wanting to be stronger to fight me, but when he realized I became a Yaku hunter, he despised me even more." Unmei said. Cedric sat on Unmei's bed and continued smoking, "So?" Cedric asked. "He was angry. I became a Yaku Hunter because they killed our father. Like the demons, we saw in Cryptic, a demon-possessed our father, and there was no saving him. Raelan wanted to save him. He tried hard to wake him up, even from the darkness when he was about to be eaten. A Yaku sliced off his head, and for a moment, Raelan said he saw our father smiled like before." Unmei answered, then he pondered for a moment. "To this day, he blames Yaku for murdering our father, when in reality they saved me, him and Miho. Dad could've eaten us, even mom, but he doesn't realize that." Unmei smirked while lying in bed. "I guess the scar the price I pay for being what he hates, but I will rather be this than a demon with no soul." Unmei closed his eyes, and he mumbled, "He never ate a human before. Otherwise, I would have to kill him. He serves the Vigils; even though he's a demon, he still has a human soul. He isn't all that bad, just a brat." Unmei yawns and drifts off into sleep. Cedric looked out the window and saw the moon; he puffed out his last smoke before getting off Unmei's bed and leaving the room with Sushi to dinner."RICE!" Emilio and Alwen shouted in the dining room. "GIVE THAT MEAT TO ME!" Emilio called, "NO, IT'S FOR BINKY!" Alwen yelled. "WHO THE HELL IS BINKY!" Emilio shouted; Alwen got out Binky from her pocket, "Bink Bink," Binky squealed as Emilio yelled. "GET THAT SHIT AWAY FROM ME!" Emilio shouted as Binky started to look sad. "YOU MADE BINKY DEPRESSED!" Alwen yelled. "EXCUSE ME HOW CAN A FUCKING MOUSE BE DEPRESSED!" Emilio argued. "LOOK AT HIS TINY FACE" Alwen shows Binky with watery beady eyes. "Bink bink..." Binky sniffled. "WHAT IS WRONG WITH THAT RAT!" Emilio yelled, "IT'S NOT A RAT IT'S A MOUSE, AND HIS NAME IS BINKY!" Alwen angrily said. Dawn smiled at the two, arguing as Binky was on the table watching as well. "DON'T BRING A RAT TO DINNER!" Emilio shouted, "HE'S NOT A RAT. HE'S MY FRIEND!" Alwen yelled, "YOU MADE FRIENDS WITH SOMETHING THAT EATS TRASH!" Emilio called, "AT LEAST I DON'T EAT OUT OF ONE!" Alwen argued as Lady Tomoya walks up and hits there head with her paper fan. "AGH!" They yelled as they touched their heads. "No shouting in the dining area, my dear. Now I will get more meat and rice. Let's all share the food, even for Mr. Binky" Lady Tomoya smiled as Binky's eyes were filled with sparkle. Alwen smirked at Emilio as he rolled his eyes, annoyed. Cedric gave Sushi some food as he sipped on the tea. "Where are Unmei and Maia?" Dawn asked. "Unmei is sleeping because of Lady Tomoya's medication. Maia, I would think you would know, weren't you with her?" Cedric said, confused as Dawn and Emilio looked at each other and blushed. "What the hell are you guys blushing about?" Cedric said. "Bink bink?" Binky said to Alwen, "Yes when two people love each other, they ki-" Dawn threw her shoe at Alwen before she could finish her sentence. "Ababab..." Alwen was on the floor as Cedric shooked his head and stopped eating. "Let's wait for Maia; it would be disrespectful to Goro if she ate alone," Cedric said as he eyed Emilio, who stared depressed at his rice. "I'll go check up on her." Lady Tomoya smiled as she walked off into the corridor.Maia finished putting on her clothes after showering; she left the floral pin on top of the table that Goro gave her. She sighed for a moment as she looked at the pin. "Wearing this pin inside protects your heart from the demon's lies." Goro's voice ran through Maia's mind. "I'm starting to think this is some accessory" She rolled her eyes, "But it's charming." She held the floral pin with golden thorns and red gems encrusted into the white flowers. "You have been lucky for me," Maia said to herself as she hears a small tap on the door. "Come in," she said as Lady Tomoya entered. "Maia, the others are waiting. Unfortunately, Unmei is resting because of the medication I provided so that he won't be joining." Lady Tomoya said. Maia nodded as Lady Tomoya walked over to her. "I also made the border spell to prevent any dark energy from entering; I didn't realize it had weakened over the years." Lady Tomoya said. " Ah, thank you, that's a relief!" Maia smiled a bit. "You know Maia; I do hope you guys find out who's been taking those girls. As much as I love Axis, it has become a place for kidnapping, and it only seems to be girls." Lady Tomoya looked a bit upset as Maia patted her arm. "Don't worry; my team will find everything out. You can count on us!" Maia determined. Lady Tomoya nodded happily as Maia, and she got up to go to dinner. Maia left the floral pin on the bed in the girl's room as it glowed brightly in the room."Hm..." A man woke up from his slumber. "Where are you...my love."
