"Oh, Ophelia. Heaven help a fool who falls in love."
Ophelia woke up to a blinding light shining in her eyes and her head throbbing. She didn't know where she was. After her eyes adjusted to the bright light, she took in her surroundings. She was laid on a bed in an empty room. There was a tall, steel door in the corner. Her mask wasn't on, she suddenly realized. That meant that she had no way of hiding her face from these people who wanted to hurt her. Ophelia had to find a way out before they realized she was awake. She went to stand up and felt rubbing against her wrist. Looking to her wrist she saw she was tied to the bed with rope. "Damn." she thought. She looked around to see if there was something she could use to cut the rope, her throbbing head making it hard to focus. After looking around she realized the room had nothing she could use. "My knives." she remembered. She looked down to her leg to grab one of her knives to cut herself loose, seeing that her knives were missing. It made sense, why would you let the prisoner keep their weapons? A sound came from her right, someone opened the door.
"Look who's finally awake." Sapnap had walked into the room with a smug grin. Ophelia just rolled her eyes at the boy.
"I'm surprised you're checking on me, thought it would be George." she started, "Oh wait, I shot him, my bad." she finished with a smile. Sapnap just glared at her, lost at what to say.
"I'll go tell Dream, he wants to talk." with that he left the room. She sat back on the bed suddenly consumed with her thoughts.
What was Dream going to do to her? Torture her? She could probably handle it, she just didn't want him to harm her friends. Her friends. Wilbur. What were they thinking right now? Were they worried that she never came back from her walk? Did they not care? She understood if they didn't care, they had only just met. For some odd reason though she already felt a connection to the boys.
The door opened again, and instead of the boy with the bandana it was Dream. He wore a green hoodie and his stupid mask. In the light she could see that there was a faint trace of blood on the smiling mask. He walked in and just stared at her for a moment.
"Take a picture, it'll last longer." Ophelia quipped, masking her fear. She heard a chuckle come from the man. The chuckle didn't last long though and his entire demeanor shifted into a serious one.
"Let's cut to the chase, I need you to tell me who you are and what your intentions are." She gave him no response. Instead she simply stared towards the ceiling, ignoring the man with a small grin on her face. A small sigh came from Dream, already getting frustrated with the girl. "Just tell me and I'll think about letting you go." The man said, his tone trying to stay calm.
Still staring at the ceiling, she asked "Why would I tell you who I am if I can't even see your face? You have to admit, this is a little unfair." Ophelia said with a smile. She sat staring at the ceiling in silence, waiting for the man's response.
"This better?" she heard his voice ask. She didn't want to look, but she had to. She looked towards him seeing green eyes staring right back at her. He had dirty-blonde hair, that was cut short. He had freckles sprinkled over the bridge of his nose. His face seemed expressionless, as if he couldn't show emotion. She must've stared too long because his voice spoke, "Take a picture, it'll last longer." repeating what she had said earlier. Ophelia immediately diverted her eyes back up at the ceiling, not wanting him to see that she was flustered.
"How many people have actually seen your face? Am I special because I feel like someone who wears a mask all the time never shows anyone their face." she started asking, attempting to distract him from his reasoning for being there.
"I could ask you the same thing." was all he replied with.
"To be fair, you took my mask off without my consent. If I remember correctly, I was wearing it when you knocked me out and kidnapped me." This conversation seemed to be distracting him, she hoped she could keep it going.
"I mean you were an unknown person on my land, and you weren't coming willingly. So we had to do we had to do." he said leaning against the wall.
"Alright, so we're normalizing kidnapping now. Cool, I can get used to that." she sarcastically replied.
Ophelia could feel his eyes on her. "Why were you in the forest?" he asked, completely changing the subject.
"I was going for a walk." she simply and honestly responded.
"How did you get here?"
"I don't know."
"How did you get here?" he asked again, this time with more anger.
"I don't know." she snarled back, eyes glued to the ceiling.
She felt a frim grip on her chin and her ocean blue eyes were forced to look right into his emerald colored ones. With his hand forcing her to look at him, he asked again, "How did you get here?" his tone was aggressive. Ophelia tried keeping her cool, knowing that he would notice any trace of fear.
"I'm telling the truth, I swear." she started, "I woke up in the forest with none of my memories, I know it sounds like bullshit but I'm being honest." she spat, him still forcing her to look him in the eyes.
He removed his hand from her chin, taking a couple steps back. He seemed to take a minute to collect his thoughts and then he asked, "Have any of your memories came back?"
Her brother, she thought. She could feel tears forming in her eyes, looking back up at the man she forced the tears down and lied, "No."
Dream obviously didn't believe her, but for some reason his mind told him not to press any further. Instead, he just walked out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
Ophelia laid back, looking back up at the ceiling. "What the hell just happened?" she murmured to herself.
Quite a bit of time had passed, Ophelia just sitting alone, in silence, her and her thoughts. She heard the sound of the door opening but didn't bother to look who it was.
"We have a way of helping you get your memories back." She looked up. It was Dream, he was holding something behind his back. Ophelia sat up in the bed, curious as to what he was going to say next. "If you want your memories back, we will help you. But in return, you have to help us." Of course there was a catch, she thought.
"What do you mean by help?"
"Sabotage the L'manburg army. Break them down from the inside."
She took a minute to think. Her memories could be returned to her, but she would have to betray her new friends that were so welcoming. Maybe she could outsmart Dream, have her memories returned to her and then escape. What would happen to L'manburg if she left though? Having made up her mind, she broke the silence.
"I'll do it."
