It started out amazing. After lots of thinking the previous night he finally realized that he didn't like Yamamoto's younger sister and he didn't wanna be 'friends' with Yaku. He had grown a liking to him last month and slowly drifted away from Akane. He didn't realize this until last night that he was in love with Yaku, not Akane.

So this morning he came up with an idea to confess to Yaku. He grabbed his phone only to be confused by the message he got.

December 13th
New Message: 1:21 am
Shortie
I'm...sorry...bye Lev...

He was confused by the message.
'Why did he say bye?' Lev ignored the thought before he responded with a silly message.

"Yaku! You...can't say bye...if you haven't said hi...yet!" He said out loud as he typed the message and sent it.

Lev continued getting ready and texted Yaku he wanted to meet with him after school. He finished and stepped outside to be met with snow.

"Yaku likes the snow too!! I have the perfect confession now!!" Lev cheered happily as he saw a snowflake fall onto his hand.

Lev who was usually almost late, was excited when he saw he wasn't the last one.

"Hey!! I'm not the last one!! Yaku isn't here yet!" Lev said before he noticed the team clearly upset. Each of them were crying and even Kenma was sobbing.

"What-"

"Yaku is gone..." Kuroo said trying to stay strong while wiping away his tears.

Lev froze hoping it's not what he meant.
"W-Well duh! He's not in here of course he's-"

"Lev. Yaku passed away."

Lev first shook his head trying to come up with different things that sentence could mean. But he knew what it meant.

Yaku was dead.

"How-"

"He suffered a heart attack last night." Kenma lied through tears. Yaku didn't want anyone else to know besides Kenma and Lev.

Lev felt tears at his eyes.

"N-No...I-I was gonna..."

Lev tried to wipe away the uncontrollable tears, but they just kept coming right back.

"Hey Lev..." Kenma said catching Lev's attention as he grabbed his stuff from the locker room. Practice had been canceled. Everyone needed time and space.

"Oh Kenma. Yea?" Lev asked as he noticed Kenma had tears in his eyes.

"Yaku...didn't die from a heart attack...he died of something else...he'll probably say it in his letter...but...this is for you." Kenma said before he handed him the folded piece of paper and left.

Lev stared at it for a long time reading the front.

Dear Lev

These were basically Yaku's last words to Lev. It hurt to know that.

Hey Lev....I...I'm gone now when you see this...I'm writing this on December 9th.

Ya know, the day we spent together. Where we went to the fair and got cotton candy. You were so scared of heights on the fairs wheel. And you held onto me. I really enjoyed that.

You know...I told Kenma to tell you guys I suffered a heart attack, but that's not the truth.

I had Hanahaki disease.

The person I loved was you, Lev.

I'm not sure who you like, but go be happy with them. Just make sure they treat you right.

Lev, your so perfect. You're tall, kind, sweet, dumb, adorable, gullible, and so much more. I could go on and on. So make sure whoever you're in love with us a good person, otherwise I'll have died for no reason.

You wouldn't want that right...?

I love you so much Lev. If you ever feel alone, then you're an idiot. Cause I will always be by your side even if I'm not there. I will always be right next to you.

I love you Lev, so goodbye...

Lev reread the letter over and over. Yaku had been suffering for who knows how long because Lev couldn't realize sooner his feelings for Yaku.

"No Yaku...This...This is my fault....it's all my f-fault!!"

Lev sobbed thinking of all the memories he made with Yaku, the memories he wanted to make with Yaku.

But it was too late.

Yaku was gone.
