Living

I've been staying at my spot for 2 days. I have a good view of the water from here. But I'm hidden all around so no one will find me. I need to get some food. I go to the store with my little amount of money. I need to get a job. I ride to the grocery store. I can't spend much money so i buy bread and peanut butter. I buy it and walk out.

"Destany," someone yells. I turn and it's the crew.

"Hey," I say.

We all talk then they go into the store except for JJ. He stays outside with me.

"You should come hangout with us." JJ says.

"Ok sure."

We talk and soon the others come out.

I put my stuff into my backpack. I go with them to the van.

"We have gold we're trying to pon off." JJ says. Making everyone yell at him for telling me.

"You found the royal merchant gold?" I say. They all looked at me shocked. "Im sorry guys I'm not stupid. I know what youve been up to. You're not that good at keeping things secret."

"Ok well welcome to the crew." JJ says.

We drive and JJ goes into the store. He comes back out and we drive away. A car pulls us over.

"Shit! What do we do with it?" JJ says frantically looking around. Everyone argues and I take the gold. I know how to hide it. Every sense I was a kid I learned how to smuggle things.

"Hands up." Some one says. I recognise that voice. "Every one out."

We slowly get out of the car with our hands up. He has a gun. When I get out I see him, it's my brother.

"Oh look who it is." He says to me. "I thought you would have come home earlier. Must be sleeping with someone."

"I'm never going back, I would rather be on my own." I spit. It's not very smart arguing with a drug addict who has a gun.

"On the ground!" Every one lays on the ground with their hands up. He kicks me in the side. JJ almost moves but I give him the look. So he stays where he's at. "I stuck my neck out for you. I saved you from mom."

"Ya you've been a real savior."

"Want me to tell her where you are?!" He kicks me again. "Ungrateful! She probably has another boyfriend. I'm sure they would love to take you back." he kicks me a few more times. JB sneaks away while he is distracted with me. JJ closes his eyes to keep him from doing anything. He kicks me a few more times then goes to the van looking for the gold.

JB hides trying to be quiet. I can't let my friends get hurt by my brother. He won't shoot his sister right? Before I can try to think of an answer I get up. The others try to stop me. Me and my brother lock eyes then I turn and run. He aims his gun then puts it down and runs after me. I know he is going to figure out I have the gold so I secretly drop it while I run. It lands in a bush and gets hidden in it. Then I get tackled by my brother.

"I thought I taught you better then that. You're lucky I didn't shoot you. I would have but you're the best smuggler/delerier." He says dragging me back to the others. Then it dawns on him. "Oh haha. You have the gold."

"I don't know what you're talking about." I say.

"Shut up!" He slaps me then looks for the gold.

When he doesn't find it he walks to his car and grabs a woki toki to talk to someone. JB is hidden in the car. He jumps my brother and knocks him out.

"Let's go!" JB yells running towards the van. We get up and start running towards the van. We all jump in and drive off. 

After we get away we all can finally breathe.

"Wait so where is the gold." Pope asks.

"I dropped it in the bush as I ran." I say. "Don't worry we can pick it up later. He won't find it."

We all fall silent, tell JJ quietly asks me. "Is he your..."

"Brother, yes." I say.

"Was he what caused the black eye?" He gently asks.

I ever so slightly nod. Looking down with tears starting to well in my eyes. He grabs me in a hug but I can tell he is mad.
