𝐍𝐎𝐄𝐋𝐋𝐄

"𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐀 𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐓 𝐅𝐈𝐑𝐒𝐓 𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐊 after summer holidays," I murmured to myself as I closed the door behind me. With my hood up, I walked down the long stairs. An old, horrendous looking, red carpet covered the marble steps. Expensive looking paintings with faces of people who've probably died already looked down on me as they hung up high on the ornate wall.
It was quiet but I didn't expect anything else since it was only around 8 am.

As I stepped out of the school, I felt relieved to feel the fresh morning air on my hot skin. I decided to walk to the little lake that was around the corner.
The further I walked, the more I got lost in my thoughts. The day that happened during the summer holidays two weeks ago flashed through my mind and replayed in my head, as clear as it had happened yesterday.

"Morning," I said tired as I strolled into the dining room. I glanced down at the long table. It was covered with a variety of food. From fruits to meat to fruit juice and breakfast tea. On my golden framed porcelain plate were fresh fried eggs, tasty little pork sausages, cooked tomatoes, beans, hot bacon and a perfectly golden burnt toast. I was glad we had a new cook who actually knew how to cook a proper meal.

"Good morning, Noelle. Have a seat, please" my dad spoke. He was so damn annoying. I sat down and reached for my fork. Without thinking about anything, I stuck it in the fried egg and cut it, not using my knife. I shoved the food into my mouth as if I had eaten for the first time in a decade.

"Slow down, Darling. That's not how you behave,"my mum reminded me. The way they were still fucking disappointed in me made me want to throw up. Assholes. Both of them. I looked at them with a death glare before I brought the fork with the fried egg to my mouth.

"Remember, today we're having dinner with business partners from my work. They're important people and you must be on your best behaviour, do you understand me?" my dad commanded, glancing over his newspapers and pointing his index finger towards me.

"We're leaving at 6:30 PM. You'll better be ready or else," he added.

"I understand," I muttered. Man, it was only 10am and my mood couldn't get any worse.

I wanted leave this place so badly, I couldn't wait to be back in school with Cassie. Though, I knew she was leaving boarding school because her mum had passed away, I was glad to just be able to rant about how downhill my life was going.

At least my family was wealthy, so I could get myself a little something here and there and satisfy my ass with a new Gucci bag. That might have been the only good thing about them.

Dad never really cared about anything else than his fucking money. He never cared about his family, his wife and only daughter. He was a fucking dick and I had never planned on forgiving him what he did.

The energy between both of my parents was tense and not how it usually was when I was home.

I sat there quietly and finished my breakfast plate. I knew that whatever I said was wrong or 'not how they raised me'.

"Would you like to have some more, Noelle?" our housemaid Claire asked with a friendly smile on her face.

I really liked her. She's been working for us since I can remember and she's always been very caring. To me, she was almost like a grandmother, given her age and the way she treated me. She was one of those strong and powerful women who every girl dreamed to be like. Claire baked cookies whenever I was having a rough day, she stroke my head and calmed my heavy head after panic attacks. Her blue eyes were as deep as the ocean yet as warm as a burning fireplace on a freezing winter day.
